Background on Southbridge Public Schools:

Southbridge Public Schools serve approximately 2,200 students in six schools. The district is presently undergoing extensive turnaround at all levels, with the assistance of the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. This creates unique opportunities for teachers and students. One example is a long-term partnership with the University of Connecticut to develop Southbridge Schools to be a national demonstration site for successful implementation of PBIS strategies. Additionally, the district is the recipient of a number of significant grants that allow Secondary School redesign, curriculum enhancements, and improved culture and climate and afterschool opportunities for students. Dates of Employment: July 5, 2023-August 4, 2023

Staff Hours: Monday-Friday 7:45-1:15pm

Requirements/Qualifications:

• Certified Teacher in the Southbridge Public Schools
• Instructional experience at the School Site preferred

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Engage with all students through closing circle, SEL and teambuilding activities throughout programming.
• Provide instruction to students incorporating curricula and objectives
• Maintain daily attendance and record keeping.
• Plan lessons/activities as required and/or necessary.
• Create lessons and provide instruction that supports and incorporates academic outcomes, SEL outcomes in Communication, Self-Regulation and Relations to Peers.
• Collaborate with EA(s) to implement lessons and activities that support SEL outcomes in relation to Communication, Self-Regulation and Relations to Peers.
• Provide student’s opportunities to interact socially with other students in a variety of academic and enrichment programs.
• Assess and evaluate student achievement via pre/post testing and performance- based assessments
• Report on student progress to Site Director and families when appropriate
• Perform such other tasks as related to the goals and objectives of the School Improvement Plan
• Support and implement the PBIS System throughout programming.
• Collaborate with EA(s) to ensure that behavior is managed according to the PBIS SEL approach.
• Uses universal health precautions for preventing illness and infections and proper body mechanics for interacting with students and moving heavy objects.

Salary: $40.00 per hour
