Assignment Dates: June 5, 2023, through August 18, 2023
Shift Times: 6:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday through Friday (report time may shift slightly based on summer program schedule/demand)
Salary: $18.00 per hour in accordance with the OAPSE bargaining agreement
Reports To: Food Service Supervisor

Qualifications and Responsibilities:
- Take ownership, with the Food Service Supervisor, to operate all aspects of an efficient kitchen and meal program
- Maintain daily and monthly records, meal counts, inventory, invoices, temperature logs, and production records and reports deficiencies to the Food Service Supervisor
- Assist in preparing menus and ordering food and supplies. Oversee and help with cooking and/or cold prepping following approved menus and standardized recipes
- Assist with serving and cleaning
- Flexible in accommodating different meal prep forms such as grab-and-go breakfast, cold lunch meals, and hot lunch meals based on the needs of the program
- Flexible shift time; willingness to move to shift up or down slightly to accommodate the needs of the program
- Serving, cashiering, prepping, and cleaning.
- Willing to drive district vehicles to other buildings to deliver meals if needed
- Maintain and protect district equipment and the integrity of food inventory; communicates equipment needs to the Food Service Supervisor
- Has a frugal and responsible mindset, takes ownership of roles and responsibilities, and is willing to grow and be flexible with the demands of the food service operation
- Care for the equipment and inventory when/if large equipment fails, including moving food to alternative storage both during and after the shift when needed in extreme cases
- Responsible for the fiscal integrity of the kitchen including accurate daily deposits and record-keeping, awareness of spending, and following budgets set by the food service department
- Discerns and communicates important information and decisions to Food Service Supervisor
- Coordinates the activities of food service workers as they prepare, cook, serve, clean, and wash dishware to maximize the efficiency of the kitchen
- Report any issues or accidents occurring in the kitchen or cafeteria area to Food Service Supervisor
- Ensure that the kitchen contents are safe and secure at the end of the day
- Show leadership in the kitchen and share knowledge and food service experience with co-workers through communication, demonstration, and example
- Understand thoroughly all duties of the food service workers (including cashiering) and the Point of Sale system with the ability to perform these roles when needed
- Train and deliver in-service to current employees as instructed by leadership and as needed in their kitchen
- Responsible for obtaining substitute coverage for the kitchen when absent and substitute coverage for staff in their kitchen who will be absent following all procedures regarding staff coverage
- Follow all federal, state, and local food safety regulations, USDA child nutrition regulations, and all department policies and procedures
- Attend meetings and training as directed by the Food Service Supervisor
- Efficient with Google Suite applications and technology for record-keeping
- Perform all other duties as assigned by the Food Service Supervisor
Requirements: (Must have the following on file prior to starting assignment)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Favorable BCI (State) and FBI (Federal) background checks
- Negative drug screen
- USDA-ODE SFSP online training program (Must be completed prior to starting)
- ServSafe Level 2 Food Safety Certification (Must be completed prior to starting)
- Summer Food Service online training (to be completed once the candidate is selected)
