Job Overview

The Supervisor of Charge Description Master will manage and optimize the standard charge master. The Supervisor ensures that the standard Charge Description Master (CDM) is accurate and compliant with coding rules and billing regulations. The position is responsible for leading the CDM team’s review and research to maintain accurate and compliant charges. The Supervisor shall ensure that CDM maintenance requests are processed and completed in an efficient, accurate and timely manner. The Supervisor shall work with the CDM team and stakeholders to identify charge related opportunities and evaluate current procedures and internal controls to ensure charge master code compliance, charge accuracy and facilitate charge capture improvement. The position oversees the CDM team’s documentation of policies and procedures. The Supervisor is also responsible for the education of the CDM team and other stakeholders regarding CDM maintenance processes and compliance.


What You Will Need

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • At least three years of supervisory experience.
  • 2-3 years experience conducting charge description master set up and maintenance or an approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Epic charge master application experience preferred.
  • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) and/or Clinical Coding Specialist (CCS), and/or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) credentials preferred.
  • 2-3 years of coding experience in a hospital inpatient and outpatient setting is a plus.
  • Ability to think critically and strategically
