We are looking for a Sustainability Specialist to join our team in Houston,Texas.


The Sustainability Specialist will report to the Sustainability Manager and be a part of the Global Sustainability team with colleagues in Espoo, Singapore, Shanghai, Melbourne, and Houston. The sustainability team is responsible for managing sustainability related strategic initiatives and implementing sustainability into our business. As a Sustainability Specialist, your main role is to support suppliers in North and Latin America in meeting our sustainability requirements. You will also be responsible for supplier engagement which involves building relationships, setting expectations, training, understanding and addressing local barriers.


In addition, you will contribute to transforming the way of doing business in a sustainable manner and ensuring that sustainability remains a key driver in corporate strategy. We offer you challenging assignments and development opportunities to grow your expertise.

Main responsibilities include but are not limited to:


  • Managing supplier sustainability evaluation process for suppliers in the Americas
  • Supplier engagement and communicating of our sustainability criteria and requirements as well as managing suppliers alongside with supply managers
  • Assisting new suppliers in their sustainability development to meet required sustainability criteria
  • Supporting risk assessment for different raw materials in different geographical regions through supplier engagement and audits
  • Developing and implementing sustainability initiatives related to GHG emissions, biodiversity, and human rights.

Keys to success in this role


The best combination of experiences, skills and background is:


  • Degree in Environmental Engineering / Sustainability / International Relations/ Business or other relevant field or experience
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience preferably in related fields of sustainability or supply chain management, ideally in the biofuels, electronics, chemicals or consumer goods industries.
  • Experience working with suppliers or experience developing and managing complex internal processes involving many stakeholders is a plus.
  • Fluent in English; additional languages a plus
  • Self-driven team player with strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation and influencing skills
