Opus Interactive is seeking a talented and highly motivated Systems Administrator who possess both a solid technical knowledge of hosting environments and excellent communication skills. Systems Administrator is responsible for the initial handling of tickets and ensuring that customer inquiries/issues get off to a successful start. The Systems Administrator will gather information for a ticket, search for resolution in the documentation, review known error/bugs database, and work for a quick resolution. Where a resolution is not possible (SLA impact or skills lacking), the Systems Administrator will ask for help within the peer group and if no resolution found escalate the ticket to Engineering Services.
The Systems Administrator role is the first steppingstone in Operations career development at Opus Interactive. And staff has an opportunity to go to Sr. Systems Administrator roles.
This role acts as being the face of the company, representing the organization. As a result, a Systems Administrator is responsible for exhibiting the most positive impactful first engagement with the customer, providing effortless customer experience, and demonstrating strong listening/understanding skills and empathy. The English language (written and verbal) proficiency, and ongoing growth of technical skills are essential. Systems Administrators are also expected to help manage and contribute to the documentation. The job may also include some on-site work and mild travel. On-call shifts will be required.
Chosen candidate will act as a primary responder to address Windows Server, Linux/BSD server, colocation customers in Hillsboro, Oregon, web and mail server and network systems support requests and various alerts and notifications coming into our NOC from our clients and from our monitoring systems. Our techs support client systems as well as internal infrastructure systems and internal Corporate IT systems
General Key Criteria/Job Requirements:
· 3+ years of experience in IT - performing systems and network support, troubleshooting, and problem solving is required.
· A track record in Systems Administration/Technical support
· Experience with Microsoft Windows server and desktop operating systems, applications such as Exchange Server, MSSQL Server, IIS Server and Terminal Services, MS365, Office Products and other Microsoft applications
· Experience with general Internet related technologies including web, mail and FTP
· Ability to crimp Ethernet cables as well as run ethernet and fiber inside a datacenter environment.
· Experience with LAN and WAN technologies - firewalls, switches, routers, fiber circuits, patching, connectivity, VPN's, DHCP, TCP/IP, DNS, etc
· Experience with Linux/BSD operating systems and applications -- primarily the RedHat family of distributionsand similar operating systems and applications such as Apache, MySQL, PHP, Mail servers, Bind and other open-source software packages
· Well organized with strong time management
· Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate with all levels of an organization.
· Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
· Self-starter who can thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
· Willingness to accept constructive criticism and the ability to provide it others
Other Technologies used:
· Internal systems - infrastructure, servers and networks -- both hardware and software
· VMware vSphere, SAN Storage, HPE Blade and Rack servers, Veeam Backup systems, Monitoring systems, HPE and Arista networking
· VMware Horizon, Citrix
· Shared web hosting and related systems, control panels
· Dedicated and virtual server technologies
· Hardware configuration and troubleshooting -- servers, desktops and network equipment
Pluses:
· Managed Services and Service Provider Experience
· Cloud Service Provider Experience
· Experience working in a Datacenter environment.
· Associate degree or bachelor’s Degree
· Windows, Linux/BSD, Virtualization certifications
· Government Clearances
· Experience working with web-based code and applications and a familiarity with development processes from a support perspective.
· Experience with VMware virtualization and virtualization in general
· Storage experience -- SAN, iSCSI, NFS
· Scripting experience -- shell, Perl, Python, PHP, Powershell
· Knowledge of Atlassian tools – Confluence, Jira and Jira Service Management
