The Engineer I role is responsible for not only the escalation from Frontline & System Administrator I roles, but also assisting with planning, implementation, managing, and troubleshooting a Microsoft Enterprise Environment. Tasks may also include installation of new software, system upgrades, patch installation, backups, software/hardware problem resolution and various ad hoc requests.
Duties:
· Perform hands-on fixes remotely or in person, including installing and upgrading software, installing hardware, implementing file backups, and configuring systems and applications.
· Troubleshoot hardware and software in order to deliver required enterprise service level.
· Using service desk software record, track and document the service desk request problem-solving process, including all successful and unsuccessful decisions made, and actions taken, through to final resolution
· Create and perform preventative maintenance, including checking and cleaning of servers, end user devices, and other IT equip.
· Reinforce SLAs to maintain enterprise goals.
· Perform Root Cause Analysis by evaluating documented resolutions and analyze trends for ways to prevent future problems.
· Take ownership to resolve emerging trends & incidents.
· Manage software releases and roll-outs according to Change Management best practices.
· Adhere to site audit responsibility policies and procedures
· Ensures that all processing and reporting deadlines are consistently achieved.
· Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements
· Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale
· Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups
· Provide support per request from various constituencies. Investigate and troubleshoot issues
· Managing telecom vendor escalation to ensure maximum uptime for all centers
· Create / Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures
· Responsibility for training of other engineers and developing these training plans
· Regular attendance and punctuality.
· Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
· Perform any other functions as required by management.
· Demonstrate knowledge of the enterprise infrastructure & Application Delivery
Qualifications and Education Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in computer science/information technology plus 4 years’ industry experience; or, equivalent combination education and experience
· 2 + years’ experience Windows Server technologies
· Professional certifications relevant to the organization such as:
o Microsoft
o Citrix
o Cisco
o VMWare
o Security
· Ability to work a flexible schedule (including overtime, and weekends), as necessary.
· Superior analytical and statistical skills
Desired Skills
· Security (CISSP)
· VMware
· Citrix XenApp 6.5 or current
· Ivanti
· Knowledge of healthcare IT systems
