HybridPosition will be responsible for the design and development of integrated Systems/Subsystems that include electronic controls and rotating hardware used in electric systems for military and commercial aircraft. The applicant will apply principles and techniques of electrical/electronic engineering to ensure design preparation is in accordance with applicable specifications, customer requirements and standard work practices; interfaces with various functional groups to coordinate design and engineering documentation releases, development testing, qualification testing, and entry into service. Determines and prepares procedures for testing products, documents the results of design studies, trade studies, and failure analyses.
Hybrid:
- Must be a commutable distance from Rockford, IL to work a hybrid schedule reporting on-site as needed
Primary Responsibilities:
- Supports development and testing of electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks to ensure that business objectives and required specifications are met
- Interfaces with Customer, Project, Chief Engineer, and Program office
- Completes Requirements management, decomposition and flow down of assigned functions
- Supports Preliminary and detailed design
- Completes Development and Qualification testing of assigned functions
- Prepares design, data and analysis in accordance with program requirements and customer specifications
- Generates System Requirement Documents
- Generates LRU Requirements Documents
- Creates controller models using MATLAB/Simulink
- Integrates MATLAB/Simulink control and plant models
- Supports analysis including Electric system load analysis
- Perform High Level requirement validation and testing on desktop simulations
- Establish verification methodology for assigned functions
- Coordinate Test Facility Requirements for assigned functions
- Perform system integration and subsystem level testing in Development Test facilities
- Support aircraft and customer lab testing
- Execute system engineering Standard Work (SW)
- Provides technical assistance to manufacturing as required
Qualifications/Experience Needed:
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Systems or Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science or similar discipline
- System engineering design (generation, distribution, communications or BITE) with experience in requirements generation, requirements validation, requirements management, simulation development, system verification planning, and system testing
- Aircraft Electric Power System design experience
- DC system and battery expertise
- Utility and load management
- Motor control (induction and PM) (sensorless and sensed)
- Makes decisions having major system impact
- Experienced in full software lifecycle development
- Displays organizational knowledge; knows where to go to overcome barriers and to get the right people involved to solve problems
- Acts as watchdog to ensure program quality is maintained for individual/other team member contributions
- Champion for process/new methods application
- Independently establishes an overall course of action considering immediate and future requirements
