The Manager Talent Acquisition champions initiatives and supports the transformation of the team from recruiters into talent acquisition experts. The successful candidate will partner with business leaders to understand business requirements and lead the development and implementation of recruitment strategies and processes to ensure Peoples Gas is able to tap into and attract the best and most diverse pools of talent to support current and future business needs.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Identify, lead and execute talent acquisition initiatives across the businesses related to the talent acquisition resourcing strategy. Ensure continuous enhancement of TA procedures and policies.
- Develops best practices and a pro-active approach to talent acquisition in order to attract, assess and retain a diverse and highly skilled workforce and position our employer brand in our communities. Stays abreast of external best practices and industry trends and be a trusted advisor to HR leaders and business leaders on business needs and talent issues, positioning the company competitively in the industry.
- Works collaboratively and strategically with Leaders to develop proactive, scalable recruitment processes, solutions, and strategies, to address current and future workforce needs. Consults with hiring Leaders and recruiters on appropriate offer provisions (salary, service credits, etc.)
- Develops and reports to leadership appropriate talent acquisition metrics that enables the organization to make proactive decisions to support workforce planning growth strategies.
- Direct staff to develop strong sources of qualified applicants through the recruitment, assessment and selection for excellence processes. Leans in to recruit for leadership positions as well as support the team as requisition load mandates.
- Build and maintain network contacts in areas of expertise as needed by the company, as well as areas of Diversity focus. Review data to ensure AA placement goals have appropriate recruitment methods to ensure diverse applicant pools. Responsible for professional partnerships and programs with local educational institutions to provide recruitment opportunities/partnerships.
- Act as a catalyst for change and inspires TA to become a highly functioning team and build HR’s capabilities to deliver superior results.
- Ensure compliance with local, state and federal employment laws, as well as company policies and procedures regarding employment, testing and assessment programs. Responsible for record keeping systems regarding employment, as well as following all requested steps and procedures in the event of an audit. Represents the company as an expert witness for arbitrations and legal challenges.
- Partners with the Communications team to build branding and collateral, enhance social media and community presence to create a steady pipeline of candidates for the organization.
SUPERVISION
Direct Supervision: Talent Acquisition Specialists and Coordinator
Indirect Supervision: Intern students, external consultants, contractors, and vendors.
EDUCATION/ LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
Required: Bachelor required in Human resources or related field
Preferred: SPHR
EXPERIENCE
Required: Minimum of 6+ years of related experience including 2 years in a recruiting leadership role, experience in a unionized environment would be considered an asset. Previous experience in staffing industry and in-depth knowledge of full-cycle recruitment and employer branding strategies. 3+ years of team leadership is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Required: Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage several projects simultaneously in a fast paced, growth-oriented and time-critical environment. Excellent interpersonal, team building skills. Strong oral and written communications skills, with the ability to express and exchange ideas, effectively conduct presentations and build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners. Knowledge of pre-employment screening practices (i.e. drug tests, criminal background checks, motor vehicle reports, education verification). Relevant experience will be considered in lieu of some of the requirements
Preferred: Experience with recruiting strategies to improve diversity. Knowledge of Success Factors modules.

The successful applicant will be required to take and pass a Baseline Medical Examination as part of the pre-employment screening once an offer has been accepted. A pre-employment drug screening, as well as a background check (including education, employment, criminal and motor vehicle) will also be conducted as part of the pre-employment screening.
