Description of Work Unit
Founded in 1870, Colorado State University is among the nation’s leading research universities and enrolls approximately 32,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students. The Office of Talent Development (TD) coordinates training and development opportunities for Colorado State University employees – academic faculty, administrative professional staff, and state classified personnel.

Position Summary
  • The Talent Development (TD) Specialist supports the university by contributing to the design, development, delivery and assessment of new and existing leadership and supervisory training and other employee professional development opportunities.
  • This role creates new curriculum to address training needs of the university faculty and staff as well as refining existing curriculum to reflect new approaches to meet learning objectives and learning styles.
  • This role will partner with the director and other specialists in leading and implementing program structure for consultative opportunities, as well as the planning/marketing for all TD programs.
  • The specialist provides leadership on internal consulting projects requested by university stakeholders in areas of organizational assessment, teambuilding, retreat facilitation and other similar projects.
  • This is a hybrid position with flexible scheduling. The TD Specialist will facilitate both on campus and virtual sessions and will need to flex their schedule accordingly.
  • In addition, this position partners with other university departments to deliver a variety of programs such as new employee orientation and onboarding and university-wide training efforts.

Required Job Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Organizational Development/Behavior, Education, I/O Psychology, HR, Business or allied field
  • At least three (3) years experience in design and facilitation of leadership development courses.
  • At least three (3) years experience using adult training methods, curriculum design, needs assessment and evaluation methodology.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with diverse participants, including employees in a wide range of occupations and educational backgrounds

Preferred Job Qualifications
  • A minimum of two years experience working in a higher education environment
  • A minimum of two years of executive, workplace or life coaching experience
  • Experience engaging learners with hands-on application and reflection to connect theories and knowledge with real-world context.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively as an individual contributor and member of teams including internal and external partners, subject matter experts, and committees
  • A minimum of one year experience in providing trainings in a virtual learning environment
  • Experience in conflict resolution or teambuilding
  • Experience in organizational development consulting and interventions
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development to stay current with adult learning theory and other key training and facilitation skill sets
