Data Tax Specialist

Job Summary
This role will work with tax agencies to transmit monthly, quarterly, and annual filings of client tax data from Paycor systems to the agency systems. Their primary focus is to ensure all Paycor client tax data is transmitted to the tax agencies to maintain tax compliance. To accomplish these goals, this role will work with tax agencies and internal teams to analyze, design, enhance, recommend, and develop timely data transmission solutions. This role will also work with individual clients to troubleshoot agency specific filing issues.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Consulting with Product & Engineering best methods of obtaining and transferring data to the Tax Agency systems. Process involves reviewing, interpretating and testing agency electronic filings based on Tax Agency file specifications.
- Extraction, manipulate, and import data from various systems.
- Identify and problem solve towards identifying best means for importing data based on an ever-changing set of circumstances and system capabilities
- Reconcile and process electronic return/W2 files and tax payments for monthly, quarterly, and annual filings to maintain tax compliance. (Primary Responsibility)
- Troubleshooting of set-up and data integrity issues as needed including preparing and filing amended returns.
- Resolve client questions expediently with a high level of service and communicate with them regarding tax filing and payment issues, amended returns and tax jurisdiction correspondences
- Proactively maintain positive relationships with peers within Tax Services and other Client Services teams
- Continue to improve system knowledge through collaboration with peers, technical support, and IT developers
- Provide communication and enhancement requests to Product & Engineering team and management of product development issues arising from problems identified through data integration and transmission efforts
- Maintain and facilitate promotion of department-initiated software enhancements
- Maintain a working environment that is energized and consistently demonstrates the Paycor service commitment and values.
- Collaborate with other Client Service and Product & Engineering teams to share best practices and process improvements
Requirements
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Four-year degree or equivalent experience
- 1+ year of Client Service experience, preferably business to business
- VBA experience preferred
- Experience with industry standard file formats such as EFW2, ICESA, and NACHA preferred
- 1 – 3 years of experience preparing and filing payroll tax returns – federal, state, local and unemployment.
- Microsoft Office experience: strong Excel proficiency required (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.)
- Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy with multiple data elements extracted from multiple data sources
- Possess strong organization and time management skills, must be able to prioritize tasks based on delivery dates, other milestones and perform well under agency-driven deadline pressures
- Takes initiative and demonstrates a high degree of ownership and accountability
- Strong problem solving and analytical thinking skills
- High technical aptitude; ability to adapt to frequent system and tool updates
- Demonstrated drive to learn new skills, enhance and implement process efficiencies for the betterment of the client, team and Paycor.

We also offer competitive compensation determined by each individual's relevant experience, skills, and education. We anticipate the base pay for this position to be between $19.40-31.05/hour. In addition to base pay, Paycor Associates are eligible for either a performance-based annual bonus or commission, depending on their position.
