Plans for the day to day care and education of each child in their program. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Responsibilities:
- Develops and executes curriculum for young children.
- Plans and documents learning experiences and activities on a monthly calendar/lesson plan book and submits one week prior to the beginning of each month for director's approval and distribution to parents.
- Sets up classroom environment in an attractive, clean and safe way that promotes learning while meeting department standards and day care licensing regulations.
- Follows proper health safety, emergency, and infectious control policies and procedures, and meets all necessary first aid and CPR requirements.
- Uses competent and positive classroom management techniques.
- Listens attentively to children assuring to sit, bend, or kneel down to the child's eye level, showing sensitivity to the needs and feelings of any particular child.
- Communicates effectively with parents.
- Is available and approachable with parents, speaking with them in a professional, pleasant, understanding and positive manner at all times.
- Supervises staff.
- Works cooperatively with staff and Manager to develop a positive team attitude, while helping coordinate, supervise and evaluate aides, substitutes, and volunteers working in the classroom.
- Follows center's policies and state day care regulations regarding continuing education.
- Completes at a minimum the state mandated number of Professional Development hours annually.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelors degree in early childhood education or a related field.
Experience: 2-3 years experience working with young children.
Hours: Full time; Monday thru Friday typically 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. daily
Physical Demand: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand and sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. They are required to reach with hands and arms. They must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. They must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
