Job description
TEST TECHNICIAN JOB DESCRIPTION
A member of the quality assurance team that plays a key role in testing and troubleshooting electronic components, assemblies/sub-assemblies, systems, units and parts according to provided procedures, schematics and drawings of assemblies down to the component level. This position requires attention to detail and a focus on producing defect-free product for our customers.
Responsibilities:
- Decipher complex plans, drawings, diagrams, blueprints and instructions regarding testing and troubleshooting of assemblies and components
- Understand the test and assembly processes for each type of board or systems/sub-assembly tested
- Set up test equipment and adjust as needed for changeovers, different functions or other varying needs of production
- Operates various array of test equipment with required knowledge of test programs for proper identification and interpretation of failure parameter
- Identifies component types and read component values of integrated circuits (ICS), resistors, capacitors, etc.
- Identifies, by sight or with appropriate devices, workmanship and material defects and affix appropriate marking or defect tags in accordance with Quality Assurance procedures
- Follows step-by-step procedures to determine if item being tested meets minimum requirements specified in test procedure or test program
- Analyze test results on defective units to determine cause of failure. Compare results with specifications and record test data
- Maintain records of units tested, accepted or rejected
- Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness by meeting all productivity and quality objectives
- Communicates with team and support staff to ensure continuous production at high quality levels
Requirements:
- Associates degree in electronics or equivalent from two-year college or technical school, or equivalent experience as an electronic technician
- Completion of a certificate program in the field
- Working knowledge of standard test/troubleshooting/diagnosis equipment (e.g. oscilloscope, signal generator, spectrum analyzer, DMM, LCR meter, etc.)
- Ability to read and understand technical documents, equipment operation instructions and procedure guides
- Ability to solve complex problems
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to complete required training and maintain certifications, including IPC-A-610 and J- STD-001
- Able to work in a team environment or independently
- Strong manual dexterity
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00 - $29.00 per hour
