Autism Camp NurseThe Autism Project, a Lifespan PartnerThe Autism Project, is hiring a Camp Nurse for Camp WANNAGOAGAIN! The Camp Nurse ensures the health and safety of all on-site campers, team members, and visitors. The Camp Nurse administers basic first aid and medications and responds to emergencies as necessary.The Autism Projects Camp WANNAGOAGAIN provides a safe, supported, and fun camp experience for children, teens, and young adults with ASD & related social-emotional or communication challenges. Our camp program is designed to provide opportunities for real-life experiences, an environment to learn new leisure skills, and the chance to meet new friends in a structured environment with experienced staff.Responsibilities: Monitor the health of campers & team members participating in camp activitiesAssist parents & team members with medical & health questionsEducate team members on health and safety policies & procedures, including but not limited to basic first aid, Epi-Pen usage, and emergency response procedures Manage the Camp Nurses office area, ensuring the office is clean, organized, and well-maintained Maintain supply inventory & inform the Camp Director of any necessary purchasesWork effectively with co-workers as a team & collaborate on various responsibilitiesTreat children with dignity and respect, recognizing their individuality and diversityAnswer parent concerns or make appropriate referrals to the DirectorReport parents or childrens concerns to direct supervisor; complete necessary child abuse report forms as neededArrive prepared for the scheduled shift, prepared for constant concentration and visual surveillance of program participants with no distractions. Work in harmony and cooperation with staff, volunteers, members of the Autism Project, maintaining a positive disposition, demeanor and attireAttend and participate in staff training and orientationRequirements: Valid license as a Professional RN, requiredFirst Aid Certification Pediatric nursing experience and/or experience working with people with an intellectual disability and/or Autism Spectrum Disorders, preferredProven success in working with children & young adults with medical conditions, including but not limited to food allergies, diabetes, seizure disorders, etc, preferred Ability to push/pull, lift and carry a minimum of 35lbsEndurance to work outside, in varying temperatures and conditions, and on your feet for up to 7 hours per dayAbility to respond to emergency situations which may require running and climbing stairsDates: July 24-July 28 & July 31-August 4 (potential for an additional week, August 7-August 11)Schedule: Monday-Thursday, 8am4pm & Fridays, 8am-2pmLocation: Kingston, RI APPLY TODAY: Email your resume to afamiglietti@lifespan.org - You will be contacted with additional details.
