As a Therapist, you will have the opportunity to directly impact the lives of children and their families through our successful mental health programs. The Anoka-Hennepin School District is one of Minnesota's largest, serving approximately 38,000 students and 248,000 residents. Spread out across 172 square miles, the district is made of 13 suburban communities north of the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul. Anoka-Hennepin has 24 elementary schools, six middle schools (grades six through eight), and five high schools, plus alternative middle and high school sites. You will provide therapy, intervention and support services to students whose learning is impaired by mental health issues.
Location: Anoka Middle School (1523 5th Ave, Anoka, MN 55303)
Population: Grades (6-8)
Essential Job Functions
1. Clinical Skills
- Complete intake, diagnostic assessment, and treatment planning compliant with Rule 47/29 guidelines
- Provide therapy services to students and families in school and community settings based on diagnostic assessment
- Develop and facilitate groups at school as requested by school personnel or as demonstrated by need
- Build and maintain caseload of clinets to consistenly meet productivity expectations
Conduct mental health screening for students with concerns
2. Building and Maintaining Relationships in Schools
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with school partners
- Participate in school meetings pertaining to mental health
- Provide consultation and guidance to school staff regarding client needs
- Provide presentations to students and staff on relevant topics regaring mental health
3. Professional Development
- Become more efficient and effective in providing therapeutic services both clinically and administratively with experience
- Participate in Headway group consultation 4 hours per month
4. Paperwork
- Complete all required paperwork consistent with organizational, Rule 47, Rule 29, and contract requirements
- Maintain a broad understanding of contract requirements and outcomes for contracts
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Master's degree in psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy, or other related field
- Experience working therapeutically with elementary-aged children
- 1+ years providing individual and group therapy
- Experience conducting mental health screenings
- Experience providing training to staff regarding childhood risk behaviors
- Experience and ability to do treatment planning and reviews
- Must have your own car for work
Preferred but not required
- LICSW, LMFT, LP, LPCC
- Experience working in a school setting
- Ability to work evening hours occasionally
- Crisis intervention skills and ability to work in a face-paced environment
- Ability to maintain a caseload
- Experience working with children and adolescents
- Experience completing diagnostic assessments
- Board-Approved Clinical Supervisor
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of community-based resources including mental health, social service agencies, chemical health, etc.
- Proven ability to establish and maintain positive rapport with a diverse variety of clients and professionals
- Demostrated excellent verbal and written communication skills
- High degree of organization and ability to work independently and take initiative
- Demonstrated attention to detail, as well as to identify and address larger systemic issues
- Ability to manage time efficiently in order to ensure paperwork and billing are on time and completed correctly
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment
- Ability to think on your feet during a crisis
- Ability to collaborate with community agencies to provide services
- Ability to travel locally within the metro area
This position is full time, 40 hours per week year-round.
