Job Description
Purpose:
The Department of Public Health Sciences invites applications for a senior research associate to contribute with ongoing scholarly work in the fields of Chronic Disease Epidemiology and Healthy Aging. The DPHS has a large and expanding program of collaborative efforts, which includes projects and programs on Chronic Non-Communicable Diseases and Cardio-Metabolic Disorders. There are initiatives to promote health equity in diverse populations, including a program aimed at Latin-American countries implementing initiatives of the WHO/PAHO Decade for Healthy Aging.
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Participate in project development (25%). This will include working with the protocol lead, educators, and clinicians on proposals for which the rational and justifications are proposed, and results are presented in a clear and transparent manner for interpretation by the appropriate audience.
2. Data management (25%). This will include working on forms to request data from different sources and prepare analytic datasets for project implementation.
3. Interpretation of study results. (25%) This will include the interim and or final data analysis of datasets. Validation of analyses and programs will be conducted and reports that includes tables and figures, descriptions of methods used, and interpretations of results will be included. Participate in manuscript writing and preparation of reports.
4. Administrative support (25%). This includes providing weekly (or more often as needed) updates to the project leader of research and educational efforts on chronic disease and healthy aging initiatives.
MUSC Minimum Requirements
Master's Degree or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
Healthcare professional with skills and abilities to effectively conduct research and educational projects, showing teamwork, excellent oral and written communication skills, and proven ability to interact with diverse stakeholders. Experience and ability for data analysis, including critical analysis of clinical and evidence-based medicine (EBM), knowledge and application of bioethical principles. Experience as a healthcare professional on public health or population health initiatives would be desired.
