Currently seeking a utility worker desiring servicing/cleaning responsibility of a combined Anaerobic Digestion, Composting and Cogeneration Facility. The facilities are located at the Santa Barbara County Tajiguas Landfill. Job Description:

Under direction, assists in general equipment operations by providing a variety of general services. performs general cleaning and custodial duties as needed; performs routine maintenance duties for buildings, facilities, and some mechanical equipment; performs other duties as required.

Performs a wide variety of custodial and cleaning duties;

Key Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Follow safety procedures, observe safe working practices and maintain a safe work environment.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on equipment.
• Maintain equipment in proper working order.
• Maintain an effective system of communications with supervisors, drivers and crew, laborers and operators.
• Ability to follow instructions, and maintain good housekeeping around the facilities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Must be able to lift 75. lbs from floor to waist and 20 lbs. in awkward positions.
• Must be able to work from ladders and elevated walkways and possible confined spaces.
• Ability to manage time effectively and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.
• Must be able to work independently.
• Must be able to read and understand English.
• Must be Authorized to work in the United States.
• Must be willing to submit to a criminal background screening.
• Required to be exposed to the physical environment, which moves, dirt, noise, weather extremes, or similar elements most of the workday.
• Ability to adhere to safety guidelines of heavy equipment in an active facility.
• Ability to be flexible to changing work schedules for outages and other shift coverage needs.

Working Conditions:

• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
• While performing the duties of the job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions.
• The noise level at work can be loud at times.
• The position requires working on feet extended working hours and varied shifts with weekend and holiday work, as required by schedules.
• This job requires the ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions.
• This position requires employees to be willing to work around municipal solid waste and compost.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
