The Vice Provost for Learning Innovation ( VPLI ) is responsible for enhancing and expanding Illinois Institute of Technology’s (Illinois Tech) efforts to expand its digital footprint as a global, lifelong experiential learning environment. This individual will lead the Center for Learning Innovation and will prioritize learning needs in the design, implementation, and ongoing support of these learning experiences, particularly in ways that promote learning through digital means. This individual will design and deliver scalable educational initiatives with the highest degree of pedagogical innovation. The VPLI will guide university leadership in the development of long-term goals to support the overarching vision. The VPLI will also provide guidance to colleges and the Office of Professional and Continuing Education to enable quality assurance and expertise. The VPLI will ensure the highest quality and levels of academic design, global usability, and accessibility while also implementing rigorous assessments to maintain the high standards of Illinois Tech. Continuously identify and implement the most innovative digital learning best practices and experiences. Design and develop scalable capabilities to support educational partnership programs with the university. Continuously research and recommend the newest research and technologies related to digital learning, both in hybrid and online environments. Provide curriculum mapping consultative support for new online initiatives and offerings. Provide faculty with support on best practices in this regard.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

M.Ed in Learning Sciences or Instructional Design required.

PhD/EdD in Learning Sciences or Instructional Design preferred.

Minimum of 10 years of experience in leading digital content creation, execution, and management.

Minimum of 10 years of increasing experience in assessment and measurement in higher education.

Minimum of 10 years of experience in a strategic leadership role within higher education learning innovation.

Experience teaching and developing curriculum in higher education.

Knowledge & Skills

Significant experience in the certification and accreditation process including criteria, policies, standards, and implementation.

Ability to drive innovative learning strategies via data specific processes and create and implement basic and complex solutions.

SUPERVISION & BUDGET AUTHORITY
This individual will manage a minimum of three innovative learning professionals.

Lead Digital & Innovative Learning Officer

Drive the development and implementation of learning theories to enhance learner success and cognition with specific emphasis on the newest innovations available.

Lead research and design efforts to build out the program.

Establish personal networks among university leadership and faculty in order to fully understand capabilities and needs.

Provide ongoing support to faculty on best practices in this space.

Work closely with external partners to drive shared initiatives in the innovative and digital learning space.
