The Community of Helping Hands serves the low-income population of Maricopa and Pinal Counties where 11% of each county is food insecure – estimating over 500,000 individuals. Feeding approximately 75-100 families per month, our organization operates a public food pantry, offers health services, and maintains a volunteer life skills program. Our mission is to provide equitable access to food and to improve the quality of life for our community members through utilizing our community partners. The goal of the Volunteer Programs and Resource Coordinator VISTA is to fund, develop, market, and support Community of Helping Hands’ community and volunteer programs. In this role, the VISTA member will research grants and funding sources to support COHHAZ’s volunteer and community program. The ideal candidate will have strong networking and communication skills to help build and establish relationships with various levels of officials across other agencies, as well as cultivating relationships with donors and sponsors. In terms of development, the VISTA member will need to be very detail-oriented and experienced in volunteer activities to develop and organize volunteer programs, job descriptions, coordinating recognition activities, establishing policies and procedures, and preparing written research reports. Upon the completion of this project, Community of Helping Hands AZ aims to have a successful volunteer program supported by funding, volunteers, and sustainable projects and programs. As a result, we will be able to meet the need of the community and help fight hunger while also providing resources needed to improve the quality of life for our families.
