Job Purpose: You are a self-confident, communicative leader. You cultivate a dedicated, capable volunteer community that is meaningfully engaged in achieving the mission. You ensure that volunteers have the tools they need to succeed.
Schedule: Full-time 40 hours per week
Location/Remote Capabilities: This position is a hybrid position. Must be able to regularly travel between our MN locations (Golden Valley, Coon Rapids, St. Paul) and surrounding area. Must be able to successfully work remotely.

What you will be doing as a non-profit Volunteer Coordinator:
Leadership — Own outcomes, work collaboratively, and hold team members and volunteers accountable. Model the coaching approach to leadership and participate in first teams. Lead the volunteer program at your location, consulting experts as needed.
Communication — Listen, pay attention, and be a responsible steward of information. Distill and convey information in a clear, complete, and timely manner in alignment with organizational messaging.
Process — Receive and review applications, conduct interviews as needed.
Support — Advise on and implement volunteer recruitment and engagement strategies. Assist with onboarding and training of volunteers.
Recordkeeping — Maintain volunteer files and monitor attendance.
Strategy — Understand and commit to the requirement of excellence, continuous improvement, and department and organizational goals.
Culture — Foster an open and inclusive work environment by modeling AHS’s behaviors and values, consistent with the vision and mission of the organization. Champion a culture of safety and promote meaningful volunteer engagement.

What we are looking for as a Volunteer Coordinator:
Schedule — Regular, predictable attendance, punctuality, and availability to work during operational hours as defined by leadership with the availability to work varied hours including evening and weekend shifts. Experience — Volunteer coordination and leadership experience preferred.
Adaptability — Ability to work in a professional and positive manner with high attention to detail in a variety of situations and the willingness to assist at other sites.
Communication — Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, must have ability to work as a leader of the team and partner collaboratively with external and internal customers and departments.
Computer Skills — Proficient with computers, specifically, a working knowledge of Microsoft products.
Physical & Emotional Capabilities — Must be able to handle the physical and emotional aspect of work in an animal shelter environment, including the use of euthanasia. Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
