Warehouse & Logistics Manager - Full-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt
Starting Hourly Wage: $27/hour ($56,160/Year)
Summary: Working under the supervision of Nest Bedding senior leadership to develop, manage, and oversee a successful warehousing and distribution operation.
Essential Job Functions:
● Strategically manage assigned warehouse site in compliance with the company’s policies and vision.
● Oversee configuration of warehouse layout and ensure efficient space utilization.
● Initiate, coordinate and enforce optimal operational policies and procedures.
● Comply with federal, state, and local warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on required actions.
● Maintain standards of health and safety, hygiene, and security.
● Communicate with internal teams, suppliers, and transport companies.
● Generate feedback from internal departments and monitor the quality of services provided. Relay relevant suggestions for improvement to auxiliary teams as necessary.
● Maintain regular communication with the product management team:
- Communicate potential product defects.
- Provide input on projected purchase orders for inventory replenishment.
● Implement process improvement initiatives within warehouse operations on an ongoing basis.
● Oversees receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations.
● Establish and maintain warehouse management procedures and best practices.
● Controls inventory levels by conducting physical counts as needed and following established recurring schedules (EOM,
EOY); reconciling with established data storage systems.
● Maintain physical condition of the warehouse by planning and implementing new design layouts; inspecting equipment; issuing work orders for repair, and requisitions for replacement.
● Completes warehouse operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; monitoring results and adjusting assignments/schedule accordingly.
● Actively manage warehouse staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
● Actively manage warehouse staff performance by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
● Maintain vehicle equipment; replace oil, fill gas tank, perform general motor vehicle maintenance as needed for safety.
Clean windows, windshields, and mirrors as needed. Keep the interior of the vehicle clean of debris and clutter.
● Ability to load and unload vehicles. Must be able to safely lift 50 pounds regularly and over 100 pounds on occasion.
● Works with, and communicates with, appropriate departments as needed.
● Maintains company culture and upholds company standards.
● Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks.
● Maintains a clean driving record.
● Contributes to team and company initiatives when appropriate.
● Overseeing all reverse logistics and repurposing/recycling of used/returned products.
● Establish a familiarity with operations team processes and procedures.
- Perform operations work overflow as needed.
● Identify opportunities to improve service while pursuing company profitability alongside senior leadership.
● Has full awareness and practice of all state and federal laws regarding but not limited to employment, management, motor vehicle, facilities, and safety - and manages others to full compliance of the law.
● Carries out any other functions as assigned by senior leadership.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Experience:
● Extensive knowledge of warehouse operations, logistics, and reverse logistics.
● Exemplary leadership skills and ability to manage staff.
● Excellent communication skills.
● Strong decision making and problem-solving skills.
● Skill in working under pressure and within deadlines.
● Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relations within all levels of the organization.
● General knowledge of supply chain structure.
● Skill in conflict resolution between staff members.
● Knowledge and experience in various leadership methods.
● Proven experience as a driver.
● A valid driver’s license.
● A clean driving record.
● Minimum visual acuity of 20/50 (or corrected to 20/50).
● Familiarity with GPS devices.
● Ability to lift, carry and handle 50 pounds on a regular basis, and 100 pounds on occasion.
● Availability to work nights and weekends should the need arise.
● A polite and professional disposition.
● Ability to remain calm in stressful driving situations (e.g. at rush hour).
