TITLE: Development Director with Wasatch Adaptive Sports
LOCATION: Snowbird Resort and Murray, Utah office location
STATUS: Exempt, Full-time, Salaried - $70k to $95k
SCHEDULE: 40 hours per week Monday – Friday, some evenings and weekends necessary.

SUMMARY
As the Development Director at WAS, you will lead and execute the organization’s fundraising efforts. You will play a vital role in helping WAS’s constituents, individuals with adaptive needs, achieve their recreational goals by bringing the broader community together in support of the organization’s mission. As a part of the leadership team at WAS, you will develop relationships with new and existing individual, institutional, and corporate donors to build a broad base of support that is dedicated to our mission. You will join a team that is deeply committed to serving the community and sharing their passion for skiing, biking, snowboarding, paddling, and more.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Develop and execute a fundraising strategy and performance metrics.
- Identify and cultivate strong, meaningful relationships through new funding opportunities including major donors, corporate partners, public funding, local and national grant makers, and other emerging charitable opportunities.
- Manage, diversify, and expand WAS’s current community of donors.
- Direct the planning and execution of fundraising events and campaigns.
- Engage in regular relationship development and solicitations with donors and prospects.
- Direct and manage the WAS donor experience.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director on solicitation strategies.
- Write and report on grants with new and ongoing grant making partners.
- Oversee a well-organized, informative fundraising database.
- Supervise and coach development staff.
- Steward WAS culture and values.
- Play an active role in developing strategy with WAS leadership team at the staff and board levels.
- Lead the WAS Fundraising Committee.
- Direct the board, staff, and committees’ roles in resource development.
- Oversee the writing, design, production, and distribution of communications materials as it pertains to fundraising.
- Establish a strong organizational presence within the community.
- Additional responsibilities as assigned.
WHAT YOU NEED TO GET THE JOB DONE
- A passion for making outdoor recreation more inclusive and accessible.
- A minimum of three years of professional experience in nonprofit sector fundraising with demonstrated success.
- Highly developed organizational and time management skills including the ability to successfully manage multiple prospects, requests, and meet competing deadlines.
- Comfortable building strong relationships and soliciting the support of donors.
- Exceptional written and oral skills required.
- Strong ability to think strategically, develop plans, and execute and evaluate them successfully.
- Experience managing a development staff in alignment with company values.
- Experience managing a CRM database.
- Must be competent in Google Drive, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Acrobat.
- Experience with Bloomerang, GiveSmart, or other donor and event databases a plus.
- Strong commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
- Commitment to lifelong learning with an entrepreneurial spirit.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
WORK SCHEDULE
- 40 hours per week Monday- Friday, some evenings and weekends necessary.
- Office locations vary between a Murray, UT office location and Snowbird Resort.
- Occasional local travel is required.
