Reporting directly to the Head of Real Estate & Workplace Solutions the WCSO (World Climate Sustainability Officer), will develop, lead, and monitor the long-term strategy and plan for our internal sustainability journey across Ireland.
The individual will ensure we deliver an agile, leading-edge sustainability programme, aligning to our existing sustainability maturity matrix. This is a high-profile role that will act as Deloitte’s climate envoy – collaborating with and influencing internal and external stakeholders. They will embody our firm values and be a trusted advisor to the firm leadership. The World climate Sustainability Officer will be a be a thought leader, shaping the conversation on sustainability and connecting this to our firm’s overall purpose, while enabling our progress to reach our net zero ambition.
Your role
Vision and Strategy

Oversee our internal sustainability strategy to help the Head of RE&WS and COO drive the agenda and allow the team to be successful in delivering against plan

Scan the market and advise firm leadership on strategies, policies and practices that will set us apart as innovators in sustainability

Advise on evolution of internal sustainability strategy to maintain credibility in the market
Governance and Risk Management

Ensure leadership continue to understand their role in delivering the strategy and help drive change throughout the firm

Understand, communicate, and advise on risk and appropriate mitigation strategies associated with sustainability and provide assurance to leadership on these
Leadership

Oversee the implementation of the World Climate strategy in Ireland to ensure we reach net zero, embed sustainability across our operations, upskill and empower our people and drive systemic change through ecosystems
Representation

Represent Deloitte’s sustainability agenda to the market, positioning our plans to drive systemic transformation towards a low-carbon economy through our work with clients, through upskilling our own people, through external partnerships (ecosystems) and through our internal path to net zero

Work with the team leading WorldClimate initiatives across Deloitte firms in Europe, as Deloitte Ireland World Climate lead, on our collective journey to achieve net-zero emissions for our operations.

Maintain visibility of the Sustainability offering to our clients and ensure collaboration and integration between World Climate and client-facing teams

Work closely with leaders of the client-facing sustainability offering and external partners to identify opportunities where our internal work can strengthen our market position
Partnerships

Lead the World Climate Ecosystems strategy, identifying, and progressing opportunities to make a significant impact on climate and nature through multi-sectoral partnerships that complement our strategy and offer opportunities to engage our people

Work closely with the leaders of the client-facing sustainability offering to identify, cultivate and manage strategic alliance partnerships.

Oversee the World Climate charity partner programme, developing joint market offerings, and taking charity partners’ expertise to our clients
Your professional experience
-
Proven experience, knowledge and expertise in ESG/sustainability
-
A proven record of accomplishment in translating strategic thinking into operational implementation, ideally in transforming sustainability strategy & initiatives
-
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence and build relationships with senior stakeholders based on mutual trust and respect

Strong communications skills with risk management and behavioral change experience
-
Experience as an internal and external advocate preferred

The ability to develop a strong network across an organization to drive engagement and change

Strong external network relating to ESG to have market insights and influence
-
Demonstrated strategic and critical thinking capability with a proven ability to collaborate across the business (especially the ESG teams), spot and shape opportunities and think ahead

Track record of actively scanning the external environment for news, trends, opportunities, and risks – maintain an ongoing understanding of the market place to inform decision making
