Overview of Position:
The Accounting Manager is part of the Corporate accounting team with the primary responsibilities to lead and support the Corporate Accounting team’s daily functions, including but not limited to, reviewing journal entries, reviewing reconciliations, leading the financial close and performing special. This position is responsible for ensuring that internal controls are in place and financial reporting is accurate and timely. The ideal candidate will be a day-to-day leader with the team, digging into the details as needed, but also empowering the team to lead initiatives and solve problems. They need to be good at ensuring their team meets deadlines, while also supporting accuracy and attention to details.
Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the day-to-day accounting functions, including reviewing core accounting entries and general ledger reconciliations, ascertaining all key controls are followed and improving team’s processes
  • Manage team workload effectively and efficiently by prioritizing responsibilities to ensure deliverables are met timely
  • Monitor and review Balance Sheet reconciliations for accuracy, completeness and timeliness, verifying balance substantiation and ensuring reconciling items clear in a timely manner
  • Supervise month-end closing activities ensuring completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of financial data in accordance with IFRS
  • Subject matter expert on a number of accounts of the close process which include accruals, payroll, fixed assets, prepaids, etc.
  • Partner and support cross functional teams outside of the Corporate Accounting team to ensure accounting needs are met
  • Responsible for maintaining and monitoring compliance of all internal control procedures in accounting, including preparation of documentation to support financial accounting policies and procedures.
  • Assist with business process improvements and the design of processes, procedures, and reporting enhancements to improve financial and operational accuracy
  • Assist in annual audit process with external auditors. Coordinate with external auditors as needed
  • Manage a team of accounting professionals, that includes their coaching, development, and performance management
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned, including leading integration work on acquisitions for the accounting team
Qualifications:
Education, Licensing, and Certifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required

Experience
:
7+ years of progressive experience within accounting with at least 3+ years in a lead role

Skills
and Knowledge Required:
  • Advance Microsoft Excel skills, especially comfortable with PIVOT tables and charts, VLOOKUP, INDEX and MATCH, SUMIF/S, and IF functions
  • Experience with a large-scale ERP system, such as J. D. Edwards is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills required (both verbal and written)
  • Must have a high-degree of self-initiative with an ability to learn and tackle new challenges
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities among several stakeholders to meet deadlines
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong leadership and delegation skills
  • Commitment to data integrity and accuracy
Skills and Knowledge Preferred:
Travel requirement outside of immediate area (as a percent): <10%
