The Opportunity:
We are hiring an experienced Agile Program Manager/ Release Train Engineer (RTE) who will be accountable for the overall coordination, execution, and delivery of value through the Agile Release Train (ART) consisting of 6-12 scrum teams. The role ensures alignment with company strategy, commitments, and goals. RTE will guide and lead the ART and the Agile teams by delivering software and services. They escalate impediments, manage risk, ensure value delivery, and drive relentless improvement.
The RTE is a servant leader, and a coach to the Agile Release Train focused on building a trusting environment where problems can be raised while embracing and promoting the Agile mindset and SAFe processes. We are looking for someone who is driven, technical, highly organized and enjoys working at the intersection of tech and business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensures that the ART is best set up for success to meet PI Objectives and deliver commitments on time.
- Takes appropriate actions to keep plans on track and where changes are required, ensures impact assessment is carried out, and all impacted stakeholders are included in the decision-making.
- The RTE is responsible for monitoring and reporting on the success of the ART and providing transparency to the organization on how the ART is performing, including progress towards PI Objectives and release commitments, Key Performance Indicators and other key Metrics.
- Resolves/reports issues and manages risks and dependencies across and between ARTs. Protects the ART teams from outside disruptions to delivery. Escalates and tracks impediments.
- Works with Lean Portfolio Management, Product Management, Product Owners, and other stakeholders to ensure strategy and execution alignment.
- Encourages collaboration between teams, Product Managers/Product Owners and System Architects/Engineering.
- Facilitates PI Planning readiness by fostering a Continuous Exploration process which drives the synthesis of a Vision, a Roadmap, and Backlogs through Pre- and Post-PI Planning meetings.
- Facilitates the PI planning event every ten weeks.
- Facilitates periodic synchronization meetings (Scrum of Scrums, ART sync) and governance forums.
- Assists with economic decision-making by facilitating feature estimation by teams and the roll-up to Epics, where necessary.
- Works with Lean-Agile Center of Excellence to coach leaders, teams, and Scrum Masters in Lean-Agile practices and mindsets.
- Provides input on resourcing within the ARTs to address critical bottlenecks.
- Drives relentless improvement via Inspect and Adapt workshops and maintains improvements backlog for the ART.
- Manages and optimizes the flow of value through the ART using various tools, such as the Program Kanban and other information radiators.
Key Experience & Skills:
- An agile expert practitioner with evident appreciation and experience of agile scaling frameworks.
- People developer and coach - demonstrable experience in building and developing high-performing teams.
- 3+ years' experience in an Agile Program Management or RTE (or similar) role within an Agile high-tech, multidisciplinary environment.
- Strong stakeholder manager with experience in working with and influencing Leadership Teams.
- A track record of delivering complex IT projects and programmes.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
- Previous experience of working in a fast pace tech company.
- Good understanding of SAFe – previous experience or training/certification beneficial.
- Previous experience working as an Agile Coach or Scrum Master.
