The Assistant Regional Manager is responsible for:
- Overseeing the implementation of the State Drinking Water Program by the Regional Engineers and Planners.

This is a full-time permanent Environmental Engineer 5 (EE5) position, located within the Division of Environmental Public Health (EPH), in the Southwest Region of the Office of Drinking Water (ODW).
The duty station for this position is Tumwater, WA and telework (mobile work) is currently expected. When approved to return, the incumbent will be expected to report to the duty station for work activities. Mobile-work frequency will be subject to supervisor approval.

ODW consists of three field offices that cover the Northwest, Southwest, and Eastern regions of the state, along with a Central Service office in Olympia to support and regulate drinking water utilities in the state. ODW is a part of the Environmental Public Health division of the Department of Health.

Required Qualifications.
Bachelor’s degree or higher with a major study in sanitary, civil, environmental, chemical, or mechanical engineering; water resource planning or geotechnical sciences; or in the field of public health.
AND
Must be registered as a professional engineer in the State of Washington or be capable of obtaining Washington registration within 5 months of the date of hire through comity.
Must have a minimum of three years of experience working in the field of environmental engineering or public health administration.
Ability to communicate clearly with supervisors, peers, and subordinates.
Ability and experience in public speaking including development of materials.
Experience in change management.
Experience in adopting innovative solutions to address core work and competing priorities.
Experience in mentoring colleagues.
Experience working in a team-oriented environment.

Position is overtime exempt. Regular schedule is 8:00-5:00 M-F, however, the incumbent is expected to adjust schedule and work additional hours as needed to meet business demands and deadlines.- Position serves as a member of a rotating 24-hour On-Call team. While on pager duty, interacts with utility operators, managers, and other callers to respond to their after-hours calls.
- Must be willing and able to travel statewide, or out of state, when necessary, to perform the core functions of the position.
- Must be willing and able to travel alone or with others and stay out of town as needed, which may include traveling in both daylight and at night, as well as in rainy conditions, as needed to meet the needs of the position.
- Legally operate a state or privately-owned vehicle OR provide alternative transportation while on state business.
