Iris Memory Care of Rowlett is looking for caregivers for our 6:00am - 2:00pm and 2:00pm - 10:00pm shifts. We have full-time and part-time shifts available!
We are a small, freestanding memory care assisted living community in the Dallas suburb of Rowlett, east of downtown near Lake Hubbard. We have a small campus with a total of 48 residents split between two buildings. As a community focused on memory care, all of our residents are coping with Alzheimer's or other form of dementia. We are an age-in-place community, so you will care for residents all throughout the spectrum of the disease.
This is a great opportunity for a candidate looking for growth opportunities! We are able to train in-house and delegate for medication passing, and may have opportunity later for promotion to shift lead.
Rate of pay for caregivers starts at $14-$14.25 per hour, based on experience. Rate of pay is negotiable based upon experience. Priority will be given to candidates who have worked with seniors before.
Specific Responsibilities:
Responsible for providing Resident services and other duties as assigned. Duties include personal services, activities of daily living, housekeeping, laundry, social-recreational activities, life enrichment, delegated tasks (if applicable to state), meal services, and other tasks as needed for Resident care and service delivery.

Primary Essential Job Duties:
- Adheres to and conveys philosophy of supporting dignity, privacy, independence, choice, individuality, and a home-like environment for Residents.
- Assists with activities of daily living/ADL’s, environmental orientation, dining services, life enrichment programs, laundry and housekeeping, meal services, and other care services assigned, while encouraging self-care and independence.
- Receives and gives report from the previous shift and to the next shift.
- Reviews and carries out task assignments with the Wellness Director/Designated Supervisor.
- Assists with orientation of new staff to job responsibilities.
- Provides services as indicated on Resident assessment, task sheets, and service plans.
- Demonstrates knowledge of and follows infection control procedures.
- Maintains clean, neat, comfortable, safe environment for Residents, staff, and visitors.
- Observes problems, concerns, issues observed with Resident suites, the building, and the grounds and communicates them to the designated supervisor.
- Observes changes in Resident status, needs, or preferences and communicates them to the Wellness Director and/or Designated Supervisor.
- Offers comfort and support, emotionally and physically, to Residents.
- Reports Resident and staff concerns and/or issues to the Wellness Director and/or Executive Director, as designated.
- Assists with vital signs and weight monitoring monthly or more frequently as required for all Residents and completes all required documentation.
- Puts Resident Service First: Ensures that Residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere, which recognizes the individuals’ needs and rights
- Adheres to all established policies and procedures.
- Records Resident information as required.
- Assists with individual Resident and group social recreational activities.
- Follows the policies and procedures relating to Resident care and oversight of all health care related services.
Job Qualifications:
- Minimum one year experience in working with older adults as a personal care assistant preferred.
- Twelve (12) plus years of education preferred. High school diploma or GED required.
- At least 18 years old, or older if required per the state regulations.
- Experience with dementia residents preferred.
- Meet continuing education requirements and certifications on job classification and position, including state requirements.
- Ability/willingness to perform all position responsibilities adequately.
