2023 Hiring Range: $19.59 - $22.23 per hour
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Investigate referrals from Economic Support Programs and the Department of Children and Family Services and communicate with those staff to coordinate system updates.
- Process child support service applications.
- Investigate, initiate, resolve, and/or redirect referrals to Child Support Specialists.
- Build new cases with proper case composition and research systems to identify accurate demographic information. Thoroughly research participant identification numbers to avoid creating duplicates.
- Respond to email requests for case updates.
- Investigate cases and other matters; interview persons to obtain information; monitor the status of cases to ensure appropriate action is taken in a timely manner.
- Perform locate efforts for non-custodial parents utilizing various locate tools and locate databases.
- Run monthly error reports and correct errors.
- Process Voluntary Paternity Acknowledgement forms and submit to State Vital Records.
- Arrange for payments to be processed and mailed to the Wisconsin Support Collections Trust Fund (WISCTF).
- Review and update files after court and begin processing orders issued by the judge.
- Respond to client calls and voice mail messages.
- Process both incoming and outgoing intergovernmental cases.
- File documents or process notifications with the court through the wiKIDS/CCAP e-filing interface.
- Process Change of Venue requests to and from other counties.
- Perform other work as required or assigned, to include scan documents to create electronic files; open, sort, and distribute mail for Child Support Services and staff; assist Child Support Attorney in court; and file documents.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- One to two years of experience performing clerical duties and functions
- Or, any combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Paralegal, Administrative Professional, or Human Services/Social Services/legal related field
- Three years of experience in a publicly funded agency or field related to Human Services
- Experience using KIDS, CARES/CWW, and or eWISACWIS state databases
- Ability to become a Notary Public within six months of employment and maintain Notary commission throughout employment in the position
Knowledge of:
- Kids Information Data System (KIDS), wiKIDS, Child Support Online Services (CSOS), Control-D, CARES/Cares Worker Web (CWW), and Circuit Court Access (CCAP), or ability to obtain required knowledge within six months of employment
- Legal terminology, legal documents, and legal writing proficiency
- Documents and information needed for court proceedings, as well as court automation programs
- Customer service, both internal and external
- Critical thinking and problem solving
- Time management and prioritization
- Entering alphanumeric data into multiple entry systems
- Interpreting and applying complex laws, regulations, and rules
- Performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature
- Handling multiple procedural processes simultaneously
- Providing quality service to customers in a timely manner
- Using office equipment, including computer, calculator, scanner, phone, and fax machine
- Using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and Adobe Acrobat Professional
- Work with both electronic and paper files
- Gather, organize, and evaluate data
- Meet schedules and deadlines of work
- Follow oral and written instructions
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Supportively train, mentor, and assist teammates and department staff
- Work in multiple computer systems and databases
- Work with people of various socioeconomic backgrounds and remain professional and courteous at all times
- Adhere to strict confidential guidelines as well as computer security guidelines

The pay grade for this position is NE4 (Min. $19.59 – Max. $24.88 per hour).
