Somat Engineering has an immediate opening for a project manager position in our Brooklyn Heights, Ohio office! We are seeking an energetic and personable experienced engineer who is interested in growing their career in this field.

A Somat Project Manager has the responsibility to coordinate all technical activities on assigned projects. This individual will develop work plans, service budgets, schedules, and coordinate our services on civil engineering projects; provide primary client coordination and communication; monitor project engineer deliverables for compliance to applicable codes, and accepted engineering practices and standards; and ensure effective communication and coordination on assigned projects between all engineering disciplines and other project partners. The work performed may include a variety of complex aspects such as resolving conflicting design requirements, addressing unsuitable construction materials, and managing difficult coordination/scheduling requirements.

Therefore, this individual must possess a broad knowledge of precedents in specialty areas and have a good knowledge of principles and practices of related specialties. This individual must also have sufficient technical knowledge and awareness of details to proactively recognize technical problems and initiate appropriate corrective actions. The project manager is also responsible for engaging in proposal pursuits, and performing client management and development, staff management and mentoring, overseeing project deliverables and budget management, and providing technical oversight. Other required activities include:

• Providing mentorship, development and guidance to staff/field engineers and construction inspectors/technicians,
• Preparing, reviewing and providing analysis of geotechnical reports, and overseeing fieldwork procedures,
• Reviewing construction inspection testing reports for conformance to the project specifications, and agency requirements,
• Collaborating with clients on the execution and completion of project deliverables,
• Providing project management for a variety of projects from conception to finish, including preparing proposals and contract modifications,
• Oversight of field and laboratory activities to support geotechnical investigations and construction inspection/material testing services for various types of projects,
• Managing existing client relationships, and developing new client relationships to support existing and new service sectors and markets,
• Assisting with asset work load management,
• Identifying potential project pursuits and market growth opportunities,
• Project administration including maintaining workload and backlog to support staff, preparing/managing budgets, change orders/contract modifications, invoicing, A/R collections, etc.,
• Developing cost proposals and assisting with marketing collateral,and
• Participating in professional societies and groups.

This position will require some out-of-town work assignments depending on the project requirements.
