SunWest Contracting Job Description for Cost Accountant
SUNWEST CONTRACTING is a licensed general contractor performing civil site work in the greater Phoenix area. SunWest specializes in the installation of wet and dry utilities for residential home builders. We are looking to a hire an experienced Cost Accountant to join our team!
JOB DESCRIPTION:
We are seeking an individual experienced in construction accounting to join our team! The Cost Accountant will assist in providing financial, administrative and clerical support to the organization. This person must be able to work independently, accomplish tasks in a timely manner and be extremely organized.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Performing cost accounting; allocating job costs and coding invoices
- Contract Management - Setup new Jobs with cost codes in QB, Facilitate Change Order Management and Job Closeout process
- Create and maintain Journal Entries, appropriate utilization of debits and credits
- Facilitate monthly billings by handling accounts payable, receivables and processing waivers
- Conduct monthly credit card reconciliations
- Track all Company assets in Quickbooks and maintain depreciation schedule
- Input vendor invoices into Quickbooks and audit monthly
- Maintain strong communication with internal teams, clients, and vendors
- Monitor and reconcile cashed and outstanding checks
- Participate in weekly team meetings
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- 3+ years relevant experience preferred
- Construction industry experience preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related degree preferred
- General understanding of GAAP principles
- Proficient in Quickbooks, Timberline/Sage 300, or similar software
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, MS Projects, and Outlook
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- With or without reasonable accommodation, the physical and mental requirements of this job may include the following: seeing, hearing, speaking, and writing clearly. Occasional reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling. Frequent sitting, standing and walking, which may be required for long periods of time, and may involve climbing stairs and walking up inclines and on uneven terrain. Additional physical requirements may include, frequent lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds and occasional lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds.
MINIMUM HIRING STANDARDS:
- Must have the legal right to work in the United States
- Must have the ability to speak, read, and write English
- Must have a High School Diploma or GED
- Must be willing to participate in the Company’s pre-employment screening process, including drug screen and background investigation
- Must have a reliable means of communication (i.e. phone)
