Overview

The Corporate Controller is the senior financial and accounting person in the company. The position is responsible for all aspects of financial management, financial control, accounting and financial reporting of the management and development company. The Position reports directly to the CEO of the company. The Corporate Controller's responsibilities include, but are not limited to, timely, responsive, and accurate completion of the job responsibilities below.

Responsibilities

  • Establishment, documentation, maintenance and compliance with the Company's systems of accounting and financial reporting, and internal operating, accounting and financial reporting controls
  • Management of financial and accounting aspects of purchases, sales, transaction closings, takeovers and exits of properties.
  • Management of the initial set up of new entities, including identifying and managing GAAP and other compliance, control and reporting issues
  • Understanding and compliance with all corporate, partnership, debt and other contractual documents for all hotel related entities
  • Administration of the overall Cash Management System including monitoring each entities’ daily cash position.
  • Preparing and filing each hotel’s periodic Sales Tax Filings with all jurisdictions.
  • Coordination with Payroll Department to fund Payroll Costs from the Cash Management System for all properties and corporate staff.
  • Timely preparation of monthly financial statements of the management and development company and all hotel properties, investment properties, and related entities, including corporate consolidation and reporting of hotel properties and ownership entities
  • Coordination of all financial communications with executives and owners
  • Coordination with the company’s outside Accounting firm to have Tax Returns prepared for all Entities including preparation of all work papers and data necessary for on time filings.
  • Management of debt, construction and other financing and capital transactions
  • Monitoring of consolidating cash, cash flow, accounts receivable and operating forecasts of all hotel and investment related entities
  • Review, approval, and processing of various contractual revenue streams via billings and receivables
  • Review, approval and processing of disbursements for properties
  • Review of bank reconciliations and G/L reconciliations
  • Cash flow projections, Review with Executive Teams and Ownership Groups
  • Involvement with insurance and property tax administration of hotel properties
  • Preparation of consolidating and consolidated operating, cash, receivables and other reports for executives and owners
  • Preparation of any special reports, statements, etc., as requested.
  • Other special projects and responsibilities as assigned

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of Public Accounting and/or corporate/ownership related financial management, financial reporting and accounting experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required.
  • Ability to travel and work overtime as necessary to complete assigned duties.
  • CPA preferred, but not required.
  • Public Accounting Manager or Senior Manager experience preferred.
  • Strong application skills including Excel, Word, Teams, M3 Hotel Accounting Software and other financial accounting systems.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with Uniform System of Accounts for the Lodging Industry (11th edition)
