Job Summary
Dominion Energy South Carolina is seeking one (1) Customer Project Designer, Level I, II, or III, for the Columbia District AND two (2) Customer Project Designers, Level I, II, or III, for the Charleston District.
The Columbia District includes Downtown Columbia, Lexington, Chapin, Piney Woods, and Blythewood. The Charleston District includes West Ashley, James Island, North Charleston, Mt Pleasant, Downtown Charleston, and Hollywood.
Lighting’s Customer Project Designer’s major responsibility will be the design and coordination of small, medium, and large outdoor lighting projects to include backyard, parking lot, subdivision, and roadway installations. The successful candidate will create and modify technical drawings; calculate job costing and customer charges; prepare 5-year contracts; and prepare and complete work orders. In addition, the successful candidate will interact directly with internal and external customers to resolve project issues and support all goals, functions, and needs of the Lighting Department. The candidate will use several programs to the completion of projects, to include Salesforce, ArcMap, AutoCAD, WFM (an internal job estimating program), and CIS (our internal Customer Information System).

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
- 0 – 2+ years of relevant experience required
- Performs all or most all standard work under general supervision
- Performs assignments designed to develop work knowledge, skills and abilities requiring application of policies, procedures, techniques, and other criteria in carrying out all aspects of the job
- Performs routine work assignments but over time will demonstrate the ability to perform more difficult work assignments
- Works under established policies and procedures to meet set schedules and system or program requirements
- Continues to develop the knowledge, skills, and abilities to reach a higher level of proficiency and work complexity
Lighting Customer Project Designer II
- 2 -3+ years relevant experience required
- Associate Degree in a technical field or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience
- Performs all standard and some specialized, more complex aspects under limited supervision
- Proficiently performs assignments having the knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience needed to carry out all aspects of the job
- Exercises independent judgment and decision-making in planning, organizing, and conducting work assignments
- Effectively utilizes the proper resources to develop solutions and devise new approaches to problems encountered in work assignments
- Identifies and eliminates unnecessary work and non-value-added activities
- 5+ years relevant experience required
- Associate Degree in a technical field or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience
- Provides oversight, direction, training, and technical assistance to junior level support positions under limited or no supervision
- Expertly performs assignments having the knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience needed to carry out all aspects of the job
- Exercises independent judgment and decision-making in planning, organizing, and conducting work assignments
- Resolves complex problems independently and reaches decisions under conditions of uncertainty
Education Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
- Associates degree from a technical college is a plus.
Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description
Valid state driver's license with a good driving history.
