Delivery Driver

Summary of Delivery Driver Position

Loads, drives and unloads Pella delivery truck on assigned route. Provides customer service and communication from the field. Ensures product is delivered to customer within Pella quality standards. Assigned teams and tasks will vary based on business necessity.

Delivery Driver Responsibilities

• Drives truck loaded with Pella products to customer jobsite or other predetermined location, occasionally picks-up return products
• Loads and unloads trucks per delivery paperwork
• Works in a way that protects the product from damage during the delivery process
• Performs visual quality inspections on product while loading and unloading,
• Collects money from customers on COD orders and issues a customer receipt
• Notifies manager or designated co-workers of shortages, discrepancies or anticipated needs
• Obtains customer signature as a verification of delivery or pick-up
• Develop continuous improvement suggestions
• Check truck for proper working condition, including oil level, tire pressure, and all truck-related equipment is functional.
• Ensure vehicle is always operated in safe manner, in all conditions
• Reports maintenance needs on delivery vehicles
• Helps in warehouse as needed

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Dependable work history
• Delivery Driver experience (2-3 years preferred)

Delivery Driver Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver’s license
• Previous experience in delivery preferred.
• Dependable and regular attendance
• Ability to load and unload large and heavy products (windows, doors, etc) by hand
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to comply with all state, local, and federal regulations
• Observes safety and security procedures
• Meets company safety requirements by keeping work area neat and clean, following safety precautions and wearing required safety apparel (i.e. shoes, safety glasses, fall protection, seat belt, etc.)
• Reports potentially unsafe conditions
• Uses equipment and materials properly.
• Adapts to changes in the work environment
• Able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events
• Ability to read street signs, follow directions and have a general knowledge of the Indianapolis area
