Job description

Busy Jersey City Community Health Center needs to fill a Dental Assistant position immediately to meet the demands of its patient census. The successful applicant should be able to do the following tasks:

• Assists dentist in all aspects of dental procedures
• Professional responds to incoming calls and ensures phone calls are redirected to the appropriate department; will take and retrieve messages for various personnel.
• Prepare rooms for dental procedures and restock room after completion.
• Have general skills to sterilize instruments in the absence of the sterilization tech.
• Conducts x-rays and processes them for dentist. MUST HAVE NJ VALID X-RAY LICENSE.
• Schedules appointments for dental patients
• Conducts pre-authorizations for patients to ensure their procedures are covered.
• Follows up with patients before and after appointments
• Assists in ordering and stocking of office supplies for reception area.
• May also assist with other clerical duties including but not limited to: photocopying, faxing, filing, and collating.
• Makes appointments as necessary for patients.
• Work with insurance companies on pre-authorizations and related activities to this area.
• Be flexible to go out with dental team to schools and conduct free screenings at public schools.
• Conduct other duties as needed or directed in accordance with company policy.
• Bi-lingual in Spanish is a plus
• CDA OR RDA CERTIFICATION OR BE ELIGIBLE TO SECURE WITHIN 1 YEAR OF EMPLOYMENT IS PREFERRABLE

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $20.00 per hour
