Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Plans, directs, organizes and administers the operations of the economic development department, including negotiating development agreements on behalf of the city.
Develops and implements strategic plans, policies, and procedures for the City and programs to attract new businesses, encourage expansion and retention of existing business to promote a stronger economic base.
Identifies and targets businesses and industries to the City.
The ED must be able to work cooperatively with other City employees and the general public.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s degree
· Prior experience in business management, municipal planning
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Master’s degree in Public Administration
· Prior experience as an Economic Development professional
NECESSARY SKILLS AND ABILITIES
· Ability to maintain accurate records
· Demonstrated success in economic development
· High degree of interpersonal skills, including oral communication, written communication, negotiations, public speaking and relationship building
· Ability to work with minimal supervision
· Ability to occasionally work nights and weekends
· Able to maintain confidentiality
