The Role
The incumbent is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of kitchen area and ensuring all dishes and surrounding work area is clean and organized.
Responsibilities
The incumbent is responsible for:
- Washing, drying and stacking dishes, silverware and glassware through the shift.
- Flushing out drain in dishwasher to prevent clogs.
- Cleaning and sanitizing kitchen drains with soap and scrubber. Adding bleach to each drain.
- De-liming drain in dishwasher to prevent buildup.
- Checking for empty boxes and containers. Stripping boxes and throwing away in designated trash area. Monitoring trash levels in kitchen garbage cans to avoid overflow. Pulling and securing the bags, as needed. Transporting and placing trash in the bins.
- Maintaining a safe working environment for employees by adhering to established company procedures and food industry regulations. Throughout the shift monitor the floors and work area around the dishwasher for spills and potential trip hazards.
- Attending meetings as scheduled; actively participate in the Companies safety and customer service initiatives. Assisting with other priorities at Catalina Island Company facilities as directed by the Executive Chef or Sous-Chef.
- Arrive to work as scheduled, in uniform and prepared to work. Clock-in and wash your hands.
- Maintain the highest standards of personal and professional conduct with managers, coworkers and customers.
- Comply with company policies and procedures at all times.
- Demonstrate a fundamental respect for our diversity, treating each other and our customers with respect.
- Demonstrate the behaviors and level of service appropriate with a fine dining restaurant.
- Ability to effectively handle customer requests and recognize when to refer a customer concern to a manager
- Demonstrate a willingness to assist other members of the team, as needed
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be very organized
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment while keeping calm
- Must be self-motivated and proactive
Education and/or Experience
- Must be a minimum of 16 years of age
- Must have a High School/GED diploma
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively respond to questions from managers, clients, customers and the general public. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

- Ability to taste and smell
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds or heavier weights with assistance and/or the use of proper equipment.
Environmental Elements
- Work in both indoor and outdoor environments with moderate to loud noise levels.
- May work in controlled temperature conditions, cold and hot temperatures, or inclement weather conditions.
- Work near moving equipment and mechanical parts.
- Exposure to chemicals, mechanical and electrical hazards, and hazardous physical substances and fumes.
- Interact with individuals in interpreting and enforcing rules, policies, and procedures.
Working Conditions
May be assigned an irregular work schedule, including weekends, early mornings, evenings, and holidays.
