May Institute is looking for an Educational Administrator for the May Center School for Autism and Developmental Disabilities Chicopee, MA campus. The May Center is very excited to expand services in Western Massachusetts with the opening of our additional school campus in Chicopee last fall. Given the expansion, it's time to grow our team with the addition of this new position starting in June 2023.The May Center School for Autism and Developmental Disabilities offers full-day, year-round educational services to children and adolescents. Our school focuses on building communication, social, behavioral, vocational, and academic skills. We base our programs on applied behavior analysis, or ABA, which has been shown through hundreds of scientific studies to be the most effective method to teach children and adolescents with autism and other developmental disabilities.
Under the direction of the Director of Education, the Educational Administrator is responsible for developing and supporting academic and vocational programming.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with the leadership team as needed to coordinate oversight of daily operations
- Completes and coordinates daily staffing schedule for the school
- Provides support to special education teachers in assigned classrooms ensuring compliance with responsibilities as outlined in individual work performance standards
- Provides teachers with planning time, training, and supervision in the development and implementation of academic programs, assessments and lesson planning
- Oversees the MCAS process at the school including helping teachers complete portfolios and troubleshoot MCAS needs
- Helps write and review programming to support classroom teachers
- Participates in the interview process for teachers and Instructors as needed
- Assists with IEP planning and assessments and attends Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meetings as needed
- Ensures that academic assessments and evaluations are completed as needed to develop individual student goals and objectives across all areas of development, in accordance with state regulations.
- Works with Director of Education to ensure that special education services are delivered in compliance with state and federal regulations
- Develops and maintains relationships with vocational sites within the school and community
- Works directly with students, as needed
- Provide classroom crisis management support
- Master’s degree in special education and at least a MA Initial license as a moderate or severe special education teacher required
- MA certification in Special Education Administration and a MA moderate or severe special education teaching license or all three of the following: MA license in special education, master’s in special education and minimum one year school administrative/management experience
- Experience in an applied behavior analysis setting preferred, working knowledge of ABA required
- Must have a minimum of two years’ related experience working with students with autism and other developmental disabilities
- Experience mentoring, supervising and training staff preferred
