Position Overview

Duties to be completed: Extracting and organizing detailed school data (performance, demographics, etc) from several public resources in spreadsheets to update our current Jayhawkville simulation data which is outdated and inhibiting productive use.

Job Description

85%- data collection for 12-15 schools across the state of Kansas and organizing data in detailed spreadsheets for data updates. This will include:
  • data mining (locating school information) across a variety of public resources. This will include student and faculty demographics, policies, budgets, academic performance data from state assessments broken down in multiple areas, F/R lunch data, and several other areas.
  • Organization of data-data will be need to be organized in specific spreadsheets for program updates
15% Meeting with Program Coordinator
Dr. Bessolo will meet with the student at the start of the project and bi-weekly 05/22/23-06/30/23.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be a KU graduate student in the ELPS department.
  • Upon interview, must be proficient in managing an Excel spreadsheet and have experience working with a research group.

The following is used on all student postings:
**During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: 1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or 2) be pre-enrolled in upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or 3) be enrolled in summer session or 4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).
