We are currently seeking talented individuals for our Heavy Truck Driver position!
Here is some of what you’ll do…
POSITION SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Rental Service Manager, this position exists to have the responsibility of safe pick-up and delivery of equipment and cargo.
Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Ensures that equipment is safely loaded on Hawthorne delivery vehicle for delivery to and from jobsites and service/rental yards as instructed by the dispatcher.
- Administers any necessary instructions to contractor and/or operator regarding equipment to reduce any mishandling of equipment and to ensure safety.
- Responsible for inspecting all equipment prior to deliveries and pick-ups to ensure equipment does not contain any damages.
- Ensures all returned equipment is fueled and parked in correct designated areas in yard.
- Implements pick-up and delivery of pallets/crates to shipping docks located at Young Brothers, Aloha Cargo, Matson, NYK, etc. for various service departments as instructed by the Rental Service Manager.
- Observes all State and Federal Laws and regulations that pertain to the loading, hauling, and unloading of heavy equipment.
- Communicates effectively with customers, vendors, and Hawthorne personnel.
- Ensures transport vehicle fulfills all State DOT and City and County requirements.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have a valid Class “A” Drivers License with a good driving record.
- Must have a minimum of one (1) year experience in hauling heavy equipment.
- Must have knowledge and experience in loading and securing equipment.
- Must have at least one (1) year experience in the operation of Heavy Earthmoving equipment, allied equipment, and the associate vehicles that transport the same.
- Must have excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Must have knowledge of applicable laws and regulations pertaining to loading and hauling heavy equipment.
- Must have the ability to interpret road maps and find job sites in a timely manner.
- Must have knowledge of Pre-Trip Inspection for Truck and the ability to conduct daily inspection of truck and trailers for any damages and repairs.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Walking: Moves about on foot, often through uneven terrain.
- Handling: Ability to grasp and work with hands and operate various equipment, hand, and power tools.
- Lifting: Raises or lowers miscellaneous equipment parts, small tools, batteries, and tampers.
- Reaching: Extends hands and arms in any direction.
- Stooping: Bends body downward and forward by bending at knees or waist.
- Standing: Remains in standing position if required to perform various functions of the job.
- Climbing: In and out of equipment.
- Vision: Reads documents, parts and service manuals, work tickets, and various invoices and bills.
- Talking: Communicates by radio, phone, and in person.
- Hearing: Hears well enough to distinguish safety signals, understand instructions in and outside of shop, and to communicate using radios, phones, or speaking in-person.
- Sitting: Sits in equipment and vehicles for extended periods.
- Laying: Lay in prone position under vehicles and equipment.
- Lifting: Lifts up to 60lbs. daily, frequent exertion.
ENVIRONMENTAL:
- Noise: Works in conditions with constant or intermittent noise.
- Temp/Weather: Works outside and in shop with variations of temperature and weather.
- Exposure: Sometimes subject to foul odors, fumes, and harsh substances.
