Job Title: IT Security Architect Lead

The role

The IT Security Architect will design and oversee implementation of secure information technology architectures. Helps to identify and define the organizations cyber security requirements and research, plans, designs, and evaluates security architectures in accordance with organization needs. The role will also handle basic issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The IT Security Architect provides detailed recommendations for architecture and technology and reports on all matters relevant to information security. The Information Security Architect works with Infrastructure teams, Support teams, and
Development teams to develop and implement security standards and training, ensures confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the Avanos systems, reviews, documents, and assesses all items relevant to information security.

  • Drives beneficial security change into the business through the development or review of architectures to ensure that they fit business requirements for security, mitigate risks, conform to the relevant security standards, and balance information risk against the cost of appropriate countermeasures
  • Perform cyber risk assessments to identify, analyze, and quantify risks and vulnerabilities in code, systems, products, and business processes as needed. Provide strategies for establishing and sustaining the security requirements of an information asset and identify protection goals and objectives consistent with the company’s strategy and business objectives. These assessments can take multiple formats, including audits, vulnerability tests, self-assessments, industry comparisons, code reviews, etc.
  • Delivers guidelines, best practices, and direction on security standards/policies and roadmaps. Provides subject matter expertise, consultation, and escalation support.
  • Designs, architects, and implements Azure cloud security networking solutions
  • Owns security audit process – identifies issues, makes recommendations, and resolves opportunities for improvement
  • Manages and maintains DNS and certificates
  • Develops technical security standards to support information security policies
  • Provides technical assistance in, configuration, and maintenance of network security devices including, but not limited to, firewalls, IPS, SIEM, and VPN platforms
  • Monitors and enforces compliance with information security policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines
  • Review solution architecture, identify, and close security loopholes
  • Ongoing assessments and recommendations for security trends
  • Assist/recommend security remediation process
  • Protecting the infrastructure that runs all the services offered in Cloud
  • Automate process to proactively reduce security gaps for all aspects of the cloud services
  • Implement security monitoring dashboards i.e., SIEM, and Support Cyber Incidents management
  • In coordination with various departments, define, design, and implement security goals and requirements for all development, pre-production, and SaaS/IaaS/PaaS systems, projects, and processes, including but not limited to: authentication, authorization, access control enforcement, transaction privacy, non-repudiation, intrusion detection, and containment, audit-proof of wholeness, secure state restoration, and protected communication by utilizing appropriate technologies such as firewalls, VPN, logs, intrusion detection, password policy enforcement, software controls, etc. and assure that the requirements of the services are continuously met.

Your qualifications

Required:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, - OR - equivalent work experience
  • Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and written.
  • Extreme accuracy in quality of work.
  • Work independently.
  • Must be able to multitask.

Experience
  • Five (5) or more years of demonstrated experience in cybersecurity and/or 10 years of IT network and/cloud security
  • Strong understanding of utilizing native cloud technologies for user management, security, costing, and tools
  • Broad in-depth understanding of onboarding applications onto IaaS, PaaS /Serverless and SaaS offerings, deployment automation, DevOps, scripting, containers, and Cloud Governance
  • Prior application/infrastructure engineering / Architecting and cloud certifications are a huge plus
  • Technical guidance and engineering best practices to securely build and scale cloud-native applications and configure network security defenses within the cloud environment
  • Managing Security Monitoring, Alerting, Audit Trail, and Incident Response
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to clearly articulate the needs of security i.e., documentation skills, managing delivery timelines, ability to handle multiple projects, and multitasking skills

Technical Qualifications and Certifications preferred
  • CISSP, or other relevant certification
  • Previous experience working in IT Operations or Network Operations support
