Our company

Since 1977, A-Perm-O-Green Lawn has excelled in the nurturing of lawns and landscapes. We care for the health and well-being of grasses, trees, and shrubs.

Our customers rely on us to keep their lawns and plants in beautiful condition. We apply custom blends of fertilizers, herbicides, insecticides, and fungicides in well-timed cycles throughout the year. We also provide timely, expert guidance on mowing and watering practices for the periods between our applications.

Role

Members of our lawn and landscape team represent our company publicly, each day throughout our service area. They enjoy conversations with our customers about lawn and landscape care, whether through answering questions, solving problems, or providing advice.

Our team members are craftsmen. They appreciate the beauty of the natural world and, through their work, contribute to the value that well-cultivated lawns and gardens bring to our customer homes and businesses, and to our communities more broadly.

After completing our company’s paid training program, team members work independently most days, though always backed by a supportive field and administrative team.

Team members typically begin their days at our Conroe warehouse, Monday through Friday. They receive their itineraries from their field service manager, load their trucks and trailers with appropriate application products, and complete safety inspections of their trucks and trailers before setting out on their service routes for the day, where they will apply products to customer lawns and landscapes.

Using sound planning and organizational skills, members of our lawn and landscape team stay on schedule as they complete their routes, always driving and fulfilling their responsibilities safely and courteously. They understand and follow chemical label instructions and adhere to company policies and procedures.

Members of our lawn and landscape team attend diligently to the details of their work, both to please our customers and to make for a safe, productive, and enjoyable workday for themselves and their colleagues. They communicate effectively, whether in conversation or writing, and keep their workspaces, trucks, and trailers clean and well-ordered.

Given the importance of our trucks, trailers, and equipment to our customer-service schedules, our team members typically have at least light skills in mechanical maintenance or repair.

Our team members end each day back at our Conroe warehouse. They have the flexibility to work occasionally on Saturday if our customer service schedules require it. They receive overtime compensation whenever the work week exceeds forty hours.

Over time, through our training programs, even team members with no previous experience will learn to evaluate lawn and landscape conditions, discuss treatment plans with customers, and use our company pricing standards to provide estimates of recurring service costs.

Requirements

Considerations

The work our team members perform is physically demanding. They work outside in weather that ranges from extremely hot to cold, while wearing long-sleeved shirts and rubber boots for their safety.

Their work requires considerable strength, fitness, and dexterity. They can lift at least fifty pounds and push and pull equipment and spray hoses throughout the day, including lawn aeration equipment. Team members are also able to withstand frequent periods of standing, bending, walking, and lifting throughout their daily schedules, often while navigating uneven surfaces.

To perform their duties, team members must be able to meet these physical demands as a matter of routine, while also contending with our service area’s humid, subtropical climate.

After completion of our initial training program, aspiring team members must pass the examination and other regulatory requirements set forth by the Texas Department of Agriculture for the Structural Pest Control Applicator’s license, covering the lawn and ornamental and weed control categories of licensures.

Qualifications

To meet company, insurance, and state regulatory requirements, successful applicants will at minimum:

• 
  prefer to have at least 1-3 years experience in the landscaping field and ideally in fertilization, pest and disease control. Company willing to train with no experience for the right candidate.
  
• be at least 22 years of age and reside within a 30-minute drive of our Conroe warehouse;
  
• have graduated from high school or possess at least one year of relevant experience or training;
  
• meet all federal requirements for eligibility to work permanently in the United States;
  
• possess an unrestricted Texas driver license and clean driving record, with no moving violations within the previous five years;
  
• pass a criminal background check, with no record of felony or misdemeanor convictions; and,
  
• pass a drug test.

Benefits

Our team members receive regular compensation at starting rates of $14 to $17 per hour, depending upon experience with the possibility of higher starting wage if knowledge and experience in fertilization, disease and pest management, with frequent opportunities for overtime pay.

Team members also enjoy paid holidays according to company policies.

After their first year of employment, team members earn one week of paid vacation time.
