Job Description:
We are seeking a dynamic Lead Radiation Effects Engineer, with specialized knowledge in reviewing/testing of EEE parts for radiation related performance and quality against contractual requirements established by customer specifications to join our L3Harris Specialty Engineering team in Mason, Ohio. The successful candidate will work alongside a multi-disciplinary team to conduct testing and theoretical analysis to determine the physical behavior of parts in a space radiation environment and advise the projects on the proper part selection. While this position will have no direct reports, the Radiation Engineer may oversee activities of technicians and other engineers for specific tasks.
Essential Functions:

- Program team member to address and resolve critical issues.
- Work with customer to determine requirements
- Review part lists against program requirements to assess radiation risk.
- Assists design engineers in the selection of parts that best fit their requirements
- Evaluate/test new devices to characterize radiation performance.
- Participates in design reviews for the purpose of component selection and standardization
- Perform radiation analysis to model program radiation exposure
- Responsible for generating and submitting radiation analysis reports in accordance with customer requirements.
- Develop radiation test plans and procedures
- Conduct radiation testing with labs and universities
- Lead and ensure execution of radiation analysis
- Support proposals
- Mentor and coach others internal to organization
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in physics or engineering or related field and minimum 9 years of prior radiation effects relevant experience. Graduate Degree in physics or engineering or related field and a minimum of 7 years of prior related radiation effects experience.
- 5+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas: semiconductor physics, radiation effects (TID, SEE, DDD, ELDRS) on semiconductor devices, circuit design, and electronic testing.
- 5 years of industry experience and/or academic practices and standards in EEE parts and radiation effects.
- 3-5 years experience NOVICE and semiconductor device simulations
- 5+ years experience with Extreme Value and Monte Carlo worst-case analysis techniques.
- Must be eligible to obtain a Security clearance requiring current, valid US citizenship.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Extensive understanding of advanced principles, theories, concepts and techniques in electronic device operation, laboratory techniques, electronics troubleshooting, radiation effects and spacecraft environments.
- Masters of Science in Engineering
- Extensive knowledge of device physics and radiation effects in electronics
- Proven electronics test and circuit design capability
- Advanced capability to lead radiation effects test and evaluation efforts on space flight hardware
- Advanced capability in technical writing: Proposals, reports, analysis and published papers
- Advanced skills in the application of modeling and analysis tools
- Understanding of environmental and component tolerancing worst-case effects on circuit performance and its ability to meet stated requirements.
- Current Security Clearance preferred.

- Able to work at a computer for extended periods of time.
- Able to hear and speak.
- May be required to lift up to 10 pounds, with assistance.
- Typical office environment.
