Maintenance Apprentice

4 Positions Available

Shift during Apprenticeship- Monday through Friday- 8 Hour Day Shift

Shift after Apprenticeship- Rotating 12-hour swing shift

MARS is seeking a Maintenance Apprentice to join our team at our candy manufacturing plant. As a Maintenance Apprentice, you will receive comprehensive training and hands-on experience to develop skills in equipment repair, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in a dynamic and innovative manufacturing environment while pursuing your education and career in industrial maintenance.

Responsibilities:

  • Learn and demonstrate mastery of functional/technical skills.
  • Safety and food safety compliance.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts.
  • Effective shift communications.
  • Effectively works and communicates with all departments.
  • Assist in performing equipment repair, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Learn to read and interpret equipment manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Collaborate with maintenance technicians to complete work orders in a timely manner.
  • Work on special projects as assigned.
  • Attend apprenticeship classes and training sessions to develop skills and knowledge.
  • Demonstrate multiskilled technical competence (or be removed from the program).

Physical/Environmental Requirements:

  • Standing and walking on concrete floor.
  • Wearing proper personal protective equipment (hair net, bump cap, ear plugs, safety shoes and uniform).
  • Bending, stooping, twisting, turning, standing for extended periods, reaching, climbing stairs and lifting up to 50 lbs.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Willingness to learn and work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Basic understanding of machinery and mechanical systems.
  • Demonstrated competency in computer and pc software including MS Office and email.
  • Must be willing and able to work and accept varying shifts and schedules when needed.
  • Ability to read/comprehend written and oral instruction in the English language.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience as a Team Member/Production Operator.
  • Associates degree or advanced training.
  • Electrical experience.
  • Mechanical experience.
