POSITION SUMMARY
Position is located in the Physical Plant Department and reports to the Manager of Maintenance & Campus Beautification for all technical and administration matters pertaining to all service, repair and maintenance requests which will be accomplished. Maintenance Technicians are assigned various University facilities. The Technician is responsible for completion of all work order requests from assigned buildings.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Perform minor repairs and/or replacement of electrical fixtures, devices, and appliances as required.
2. Perform minor repairs and/or replacement of plumbing fixtures, valves, and other devices as required.
3. Perform minor carpentry work as required to repair windows, doors, hardware, screens, and furniture.
4. Observe and report, through the work order system, any and all defects, deterioration, and wear and tear on the facilities.
5. Assist in coordinating major repairs, painting, and setting up of all requests within scheduled periods.
6. Communication, as directed, with key administrative and staff personnel on special events and functions scheduled for campus when special furnishing arrangements and other duties that may be required.
7. Inspect all assigned campus facilities on a routine basis and assure that deficiencies are corrected.
8. Assist as required and cooperate with all Maintenance and Building Services staff in the performance of day to day duties and responsibilities.
9. Utilize work order database so all required information is recorded for future trending and tracking.
10. Other responsibilities include; review and completions of work requests, prepare estimates of time and materials required to accomplish jobs, decides method of work accomplishment, determination and assignment of proper work priorities, and periodic maintenance.
11. Produces and manages a facilities inspection schedule.
12. Coordinates with Manager of Maintenance & Campus Beautification work plans and status of ongoing work.
13. Position requires moderate to heavy lifting, ability to climb ladders and operate maintenance equipment.
14. Scheduled occasional 24 hour on-call, emergency call response , and evening & weekend shifts is required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED

2. Must have a thorough understanding of necessary tools and equipment.
3. Must be able to adjust quickly and efficiently to changes in job priorities.
4. Basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and mechanical operation and repair knowledge.
5. Ability to maintain a neat, clean and safe work environment.
6. Attention to detail is required.
7. Good communication skills and a positive attitude.
8. Valid driver’s license.
EDUCATION
Relevant work experience required; training in the trades preferred.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
12-month, non-exempt full-time employee. Position located on the campus in Bourbonnais. Work takes place both indoors and outdoors. With regard to salary expectations, applicants should remember that Olivet is a non-union and non-profit organization.
