The Maintenance Worker is responsible for basic interior and exterior facility maintenance and repairs, excluding cleaning. They are mobile and have responsibility for specific locations but are on call to work throughout the YAI Network as needed. Maintenance workers also are required to assess and initiate repairs and perform maintenance when they see the need. All handymen are requested to keep the facility and its contents in safe and operable condition to the best of their ability and to alert managers to any needs that are out of their skill level.

Key responsibilities:

•Troubleshoots minor maintenance problems involving electrical, structural, plumbing and equipment repair or replacement.

•Performs preventive building maintenance duties (i.e., caulks windows & doors, repairs/replaces broken windows, etc.).

•Performs routine plumbing repairs (i.e., unstopping toilets & sinks, fixing water leaks & leaking faucets, etc.)

•Performs routine minor electrical repairs (i.e., changing light bulbs; replacing ballasts & light fixtures, etc.)

•Maintenance assignments will include travel to & from various YAI facilities and supply stores (i.e., Home Depot, local hardware store, etc.)

•Purchases supplies, equipment and materials necessary to complete projects.

•Repairs and replaces door knobs or locks, repairs door closures, patches holes in walls and paints interior and exterior surfaces.

  • Ensure all hazardous conditions are reported and repaired on a timely basis.

•Move furniture, deliveries, packages and other large items as required.

•Promptly communicate any facilities or maintenance issues with the program supervisor or designee.

•Perform other duties as required by management team.

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or GED

-3 Years Maintenance Experience

Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

-Basic knowledge and awareness of ID/DD

-Strong commitment and passion for the organization’s mission.

-Knowledge of the unique environmental needs for a diverse array of people with developmental and intellectual disabilities

-Highly organized and excellent at multitasking

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $34,000.00 - $38,000.00 per year
