SUMMARY
The goal of the Housing Navigator is to provide participants with appropriate support services and community resources that contribute to long-term stability in housing. This position provides trauma-informed navigation services with harm reduction principles in multiple housing sites with diverse populations. This position will serve various offsite locations throughout the work week. Maintains service notes and documentation in required databases (ELMO and HMIS). Regularly reports outcomes/progress and shares responsibility for required reports. Conducts yearly and quarterly assessments of participants to inform service provision. Provides technical assistance for general housing needs of participants including coordination with other Bayaud staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide supportive services and coordination with other agencies and Bayaud staff.
  • Makes appropriate referrals to other Bayaud programs and outside supports.
  • Assist with housing applications and gathering supporting documents for submission to Denver Housing Authority (DHA) and property management.
  • Perform research on local housing resources and initiatives as requested.
  • Maintains timely and accurate data entry, participant service notes and other documentation in required databases, including HMIS and E-Logic Database systems.
  • Track communication and follow-up for participant requests, navigation services, ancillary services and coordination with other internal and external partners for referrals as needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

ALTERNATIVE WORK PLAN
This position is not eligible for an “Alternative Work Plan” for the first 60 days of employment for training purposes. All duties must be performed in Bayaud offices or at the housing location. After successful completion of the 60-day period, job duties may be arranged as a hybrid in-office and remote work plan.

TRAVEL
Travel may include:
  • Community meetings or Trainings
  • Various Supportive Housing sites in the Community
  • Meeting participants in the community
  • Other travel as needed.
May drive personal vehicle to work locations and will be reimbursed at the federal rate for mileage.
SKILLS
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel, Outlook, and Word
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), grammar, and reasoning skills.

  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information without breach.
  • Proficient in the use of remote technologies and software including smart phone, tablet, laptop and/or PC computer.
• Ability to encourage, support and acknowledge participants by utilizing evidence-based practices such at Motivational Interviewing, Harm Reduction, Trauma Informed Care and Mental Health First Aid.• Ability to communicate effectively with particpants and staff.
  • Able to manage projects independently and to report outcomes effectively.
  • Experience working with HMIS, and E-Logic database system preferred.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in human services or other related field with 1 years’ experience in case management or public housing services. Public housing experience is preferred.
  • Associate degree (A.A.) in human services or other related field with 2 years’ experience in case management or public housing services. Public housing experience is preferred.
  • High school diploma with no post-secondary education may be considered with 3 years’ experience in case management or public housing services. Public housing experience is preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Understanding of basic family budgeting and fair market value.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
  • A valid driver’s license. Must meet Motor Vehicle Requirements per Bayaud Enterprises Insurance Carrier, this is a condition of employment.
  • Must have acceptable vehicle insurance coverage if personal vehicle is utilized for work.
