- Registered nurse license, Masters Degree in Nursing and minimum of 3 years of education experience required.
- This is a full time, exempt position.
Job Summary: The Nursing Education Program Coordinator facilitates the health system’s clinical education program for students completing a nursing program through academic partnership with designated schools. This role identifies educational needs and implements programs using a variety of teaching and learning strategies for program participants. The Coordinator monitors student development progress, plans curriculum, teaches, and serves as liaison for program advancement.
Education: Has completed the basic professional curricula of a school of nursing as approved and verified by a state board of nursing, and holds or is entitled to hold a diploma or degree therefrom. Master’s Degree in Nursing required. Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) or PhD preferred.
Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: Valid multi-state or State of Oklahoma Registered Nurse License. Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications preferred.
Work Experience: Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in an education setting, including adult education or professional development.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Advanced knowledge of program accreditation standards. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other applicable software applications. Strong communication, interpersonal, and time management skills with proven teaching ability. Ability to be detail oriented.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Supervises student activities and coordinates assignments in the program. Evaluates student performance in a constructive manner, guaranteeing clinical experience expectations are met; recognizes exemplary performance as outlined in the Traditional Bachelor of Science Nursing Student Handbook. Teaches classes, as needed, utilizing principles of adult learning, critical thinking, and clinical judgement. Participates in the recruitment efforts of students and manages their academic activities; overseeing the administrative functions and daily operations of the program. Serves as a liaison for students’ clinical assignments, required laboratory time, and simulation drills fulfilling curriculum goals and objectives. Implements educational plans, and utilizes methods, measurements, and tools to evaluate learning goals and program development. Plans for the present and future needs of the program regarding equipment, staffing, and supplies. Serves as a resource for professional development and clinical practice.
Decision Making: Independent judgement in making decisions from many diversified alternatives that are subject to general review in final stages only.
Working Relationships: Works directly with patients and/or customers. Works with internal and/or external customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff. Works frequently with individuals at Director level or above.
