POSITION SUMMARY: Welcomes and actively screens patients, visitors and staff at facility entrance in a friendly, efficient and courteous manner. Ensures infection prevention processes and required documentation are maintained at all times. Provides general assistance to nurses conducting specimen collection for COVID-19 laboratory testing. Serves as assistant and runner for front office staff and nurses involved in COVID-19 testing. Assists with guest inquiries, directions, and initial questions regarding facility access and testing services.SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the Business Office Manager. Takes direction from business office and nursing staff.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.)
Cleans and properly places furniture, equipment, supplies and signage at the beginning and end of each day.
Tracks temperatures and questionnaires for all entrants, and documents patient information at point of entry.
Assists in collection of demographic information for patients upon their arrival to the facility.
Escorts patients into the facility and helps them maintain social distancing.
Assists RNs in their COVID-19 testing activity (e.g., holding supplies, documentation).
Maintains order and cleanliness of facility entry and reception areas; empties trash as necessary.
Stocks applicable supplies, and notifies BOM or nursing staff of need to re-order.
Coordinates with other staff to provide optimal customer service to all patients and visitors.
Interacts with patients, families, visitors and staff in a mature, responsible and customer service oriented manner.
Adheres to facility policies, procedures, and safety requirements, as well as all regulatory requirements.
Uses facility resources appropriately and avoids wasteful practices.
Completes required trainings, education and competencies upon hire and as required thereafter.
Attends meetings and participates in committees as required.
Respects the privacy of individuals and is accountable for safeguarding the privacy and security of patient information and adhering to applicable federal and state regulations (i.e., HIPAA).
Performs related work as requested.

Ability to maintain appropriate inventory of supplies and instruments. Ability to follow all safety standards. Ability to follow specific procedures and instructions. Proficient in the use of technology including computer and standard office equipment. Requires attention to detail and caution. Medical and/or surgical experience preferred. BLS certified (can be completed after hiring).
