The Peer Recovery Supervisor (PRS) supervises Journey Mental Health Center’s (JMHC) Certified Peer Specialists that supports and empowers consumers and provides direct support services to peers in the community and via telehealth. The supervisory aspect of this position includes hiring, direct supervision, team building and other supervisory duties in collaboration with JMHC program supervisors. The PRS provides both one on one and group supervision to JMHC’s Peer Specialists. The PRS reports directly to the PROPs Clinical Team Manager. Minimum annual CCS service hours expected is 720.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide weekly supervision, consultation, review, and oversight to peer specialists across JMHC
• Assist program supervisors in completing performance evaluations for JMHC peer specialists
• Ensure recovery-oriented, strengths-based, culturally sensitive, and trauma-informed service delivery to consumers
• Assist with interview, hiring process, and training for new peer support staff. May also provide direct onboarding support of new staff across the program
• Provide peer services back up for JMHC peers as needed
• Approve and monitor scheduling, time off requests, training requests, etc for JMHC peers
• Coordinate and facilitate monthly peer supervision group
• Coordinate and facilitate monthly JMHC peer specialist collaboration group
• Provide direct services to peer consumers in the community and via telehealth
• Actively participate in development of long-term goals for agency
• Consult in the development of protocols and policies as assigned by Directors
• Building community relationships to become a leader in the Dane County Peer Specialist Community.
• Attending community meetings and coalitions to advocate for peer support in multiple settings while advocating for peer voice.

REQUIREMENTS

Skills and Experience:

• Current Certification as a Peer Support Specialist in Wisconsin
• Experience working in a behavioral health setting
• Strong commitment to principles of recovery, person-centered services, and improving cultural sensitivity and inclusion
• Familiarity with mental health and substance use challenges
• Knowledge of federal and state laws governing the handling of confidential information
• Ability to support, evaluate, and problem solve mental health and substance use concerns
• Creativity, organization, efficiency, flexibility, and ability to take initiative, must be able to work independently
• Ability to create and maintain professional boundaries
• Valid driver’s license, access to a car to use for work, and auto insurance
• Ability to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing)

Preferred education/experience/skills

• Experience in a supervisory role
• Highly computer and technology literate (Mac, MS Office, Zoom, etc.)
• Knowledge or experience accessing resources, such as housing, recreational activities, medical, etc.
• Bilingual (must be able to pass Alta Language Proficiency Test)
