- Accomplish plumbing repair requests submitted on work orders from all facilities.
- Perform repair, rebuild, and installation of plumbing fixtures including a wide variety of faucets, valves, sewage pumps and equipment.
- Perform repair and installation of circulation pumps in domestic hot water and hydronic heating systems.
- Perform repairs and preventative maintenance on hydronic heating systems relating to piping and valving.
- Operate sewer and drain cleaning equipment for preventative maintenance and emergency blockages.
- Order all parts and supplies necessary to accomplish above duties.
- Work safely around children and adults; know and follow safety and health regulations and related District guidelines.
- Maintain an inventory of parts and equipment in the District vehicle at all times.
- Report safety concerns to appropriate supervisors.
This position is responsible for the repair, routine maintenance and upgrading of all of the piping and pumping systems of the District, including all of the fixtures and related equipment. Systems include but are not limited to: domestic water distribution, sewage disposal systems, steam distribution systems, waste and venting systems, hydronic piping and pumping systems (including pump installation and rebuild) and backflow prevention devices.

Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent
Journey level experience (4 years as an apprentice) in commercial plumbing repair, installation, and maintenance.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to work in confined spaces
Drive District vehicles to work sites as needed.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
5 years’ experience as a licensed journeyman plumber, preferably in the commercial plumbing industry.
CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT:
Criminal background clearance
Work Scheduled hours on a consistent basis
Valid Washington State Driver’s License
KNOWLEDGE OF:
Plumbing tools, materials, and safe work practices
Plumbing products
ABILITY TO:
Work as a self-directed member of the District maintenance team; perform tasks with minimal supervision.
Plan, organize, and prioritize the use of time and resources in an efficient and effective manner.
Use hand and power tools necessary to perform job duties and responsibilities.
Practice effective safety and security within individual work routines.
Provide support and sustain positive moral with District Maintenance personnel.
Organize and perform job responsibilities efficiently and independently without close supervision and able to pay strict attention to detail
Speak, read and follow written or verbal communications
Work collaboratively with District staff and promote teamwork with co-workers

Demonstrate proficiency using an e-mail system

The employee must constantly lift/carry up to 10 pounds and must frequently lift /carry up to 20 pounds. The employee will occasionally lift/carry a maximum of 80 lbs. and push/pull up to 100 lbs.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee is required to properly wear any personal protection equipment supplied by the District.

This position typically works, Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day, 260 days per year. 12 Holidays per year.
