Job description
Summary of Job: Lead mobile response encounters. Screen, triage, identify needs, and provide community-based face-to-face intervention and de-escalation to individuals with problems related to mental illness, developmental disabilities, and/or substance abuse. Use established protocols to collaboratively determine an immediate course of action. Deescalate and resolve the crisis, collaboratively develop a crisis safety plan, and facilitate referral to level of care as indicated by identified needs. Complete appropriate documentation in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Respond to all assigned dispatches within response guidelines and using established policies, procedures, and scripts necessary for screening of service requests.
- Provide face-to-face crisis intervention services, identification of needs, and referral.
- Using techniques like motivational interviewing, active engagement, and collaborative problem solving, help Individuals identify and resolve personal, social, and interpersonal needs.
- Factoring in the Individual's circumstances, history, support, internal and external resources, and level of risk, make referrals and/or link the Individual to the appropriate service or resource using established protocols.
- Complete an appropriate Crisis Safety Plan and/or revise existing plan as applicable.
- Collaborate with team members, Individuals, involved third parties, law enforcement agents, and EMS responders to support scene safety.
- Actively collaborate with mobile response team members and/or shift supervisors for decisions outside scope of certification/licensure or experience.
- Complete appropriate, timely, and accurate documentation in accordance with established criteria.
- Adhere to established standards and guidelines for greatest possible efficiency and productivity.
- Actively facilitate encounter from initial contact until final dispositions or until Individual is successfully and appropriately linked to a higher level of care.
- Provide linkage follow-up as directed to identify unanticipated crisis escalation and initiate renewed intervention to promote and support completed linkages to services and resources, to identify barriers to care, and to troubleshoot with Individuals to overcome those barriers.
- Train, coach, support, and develop new hires as assigned.
- When not actively dispatched, assist the Crisis Call Center Hub with answering calls and completing telephonic assessments.
- Maintain job knowledge, current/valid certification, or licensure in the state of Ohio, and adhere to professional Code of Ethics
Job Requirements:
- QBHP II - LPC: Licensed Professional Counselor, or LSW: Licensed Social Worker
- Basic computer skills.
- Effective communication skills.
- Minimum of five (5) years of full-time behavioral health experience.
- Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory/management experience required.
- If driving is required for this position, must meet all requirements outlined in RI International driving policy.
- If not qualified to drive per driving policy, a Non-Driver Attestation form must be signed.
- Home office environment that complies with RI International Telework Policy. May work in the office co-located with the Crisis Call Center when not actively dispatched.
- Mobile Crisis work occurs in varied and unpredictable community setting, in which it is important for staff to remain alert and aware of their surroundings. A team approach is critical to supporting safety for all responders and persons served.
- Offsite (non-office) performance of duties and daily driving.
- Requires working beyond scheduled shift when necessary.
